(CNSNews.com) – During Tuesday’s second  presidential debate, President Barack Obama said that  women “rely” on Planned Parenthood for mammograms, but, according to the Food and Drug Administration, no Planned Parenthood facility in the United States is licensed to do mammograms.

During Tuesday night’s debate against his Republican challenger Mitt  Romney, Obama said, “When Gov. Romney says that we should eliminate  funding for Planned Parenthood, there are millions of women all across  the country who rely on Planned Parenthood for not just contraceptive  care; they rely on it for mammograms, for cervical cancer screenings.  That’s a pocketbook issue for women and families all across the country,  and it makes a difference in terms.

Makes you wonder:

Since becoming pregnant, I have learned a hard reality. I have private insurance because I am self employed. I knew that my insurance plan did not offer maternity coverage.

I did not know that there are NO private insurance companies that provide maternity coverage. I thought that was strange, so I did a little digging. What I found out was shocking to me.

I called 18 health insurance companies, including insurance “firms.”  I was told this, ” When Obama enacted his “health care reform,” he mandated that maternity coverage not be available to any private insurance company.”  All 18 companies said the exact same thing.  It almost seems like he is trying to discourage pregnancy. Hmm…that made me think of something else.

When I worked at Planned Parenthood, there was something that we were not allowed to talk about. If we didn’t talk about it, then maybe no one else would either. It was called the Jaffe Memo. In 1969, Planned Parenthood was asked by the government to produce some ideas to help with overpopulation. They did just that. What is in the memo as a “solution” to overpopulation is astonishing. And, I’m sorry to say, it looks like the Jaffe Memo is starting to show its face in our culture.

From Harry Reid to Dick Durbin, and many Senators and Congressmen in between, the Democrats are attempting to say that the looming shutdown of the federal government was not about money, but about cutting services important for women’s health.

The GOP attempt to defund Planned Parenthood, as well as others like NPR, as a part of the budget cuts they are seeking is being demonized by the rhetoric of the Left. As a side note, Planned Parenthood performs an abortion every 95 seconds in this country, or approximately the equivalent of the population of Cleveland.

What is lost in all of this give and take is the fact that this budget debate is for the spending for the year that is already half over. The Reid Pelosi team decided NOT to do a budget AT ALL last year……………….. and now are playing the martyr role!

Mother furious after in-school clinic sets up teen's abortion

SEATTLE — The mother of a Ballard High School student is fuming after the health center on campus helped facilitate her daughter’s abortion during school hours.

The mother, whom KOMO News has chosen to identify only as “Jill,” says the clinic kept the information “confidential.”

When she signed a consent form, Jill figured it meant her 15 year old could go to the Ballard Teen Health Center located inside the high school for an earache, a sports physical, even birth control, but not for help terminating a pregnancy.

“She took a pregnancy test at school at the teen health center,” she said. “Nowhere in this paperwork does it mention abortion or facilitating abortion.”

Jill says her daughter, a pro-life advocate, was given a pass, put in a taxi and sent off to have an abortion during school hours all without her family knowing.

“We had no idea this was being facilitated on campus,” said Jill. “They just told her that if she concealed it from her family, that it would be free of charge and no financial responsibility.”

The Seattle School District says it doesn’t run the health clinics at high schools. Swedish Medical Center runs the clinic at Ballard High and protects the students’ privacy.

T.J. Cosgrove of the King County Health Department, which administers the school-based programs for the health department, says it’s always best if parents are involved in their children’s health care, but don’t always have a say.

“At any age in the state of Washington, an individual can consent to a termination of pregnancy,” he said.

But Jill says she not only didn’t have a say in her daughter’s abortion, but also didn’t know about it.

“Makes me feel like my rights were completely stripped away.”

“Planned Parenthood has been a part of Abby Johnson’s life for the past eight years; that is until last month, when Abby resigned. Johnson said she realized she wanted to leave, after watching an ultrasound of an abortion procedure.” “I just thought I can’t do this anymore, and it was just like a flash that hit me and I thought that’s it,” said Jonhson”

Setting the stage for a showdown with the pro-life proponents of abortion, Pres. Barack Obama is set to challenge the faith of many physicians by reversing a Bush directive that pemitted physicians to refuse to perform procedures that would be at odds with the physician’s faith.

Bush gave healthcare providers the option of refusing to perform controversial procedures that the physician might feel are morally repugnant, such as abortion, sterilization or birth control. Obama views a reversal of this puts the patient back in control. “This policy of potentially allowing providers to refuse to provide contraception or family planning runs counter to the administration’s goal of reducing abortions and unwanted pregnancies,” an HHS official said on background. It also could lead into other areas of medical care.”

The Catholic Church has been watching this change carefully, along with legisaltion being formulated in Congress.

My question is why should a doctor be required to perform an abortion if he is opposed to such, when the patient is then free to go to another physician who would be willing to perform the procedure?
