In five days, the midterms elections of 2014 will be OVER (with perhaps the exception of a runoff in Georgia and/or Louisiana). With any luck, we will know clearly on the night of November 4th how the checks and balances within our Constitution will be set up. Of course, we then have to hope that those in “leadership” do the correct thing!

So how do you see the 2014 Elections play out?

And then on November 5th, we start all over…… toward NOVEMBER 8th, 2016

From the Washington Post:

By Diane Ravitch

A new Washington Post story by Lyndsey Layton about how Bill Gates’ funded the Common Core revolution is startling. His role and the role of the U.S. Department of Education in drafting and coercing almost every state to adopt the Common Core standards should be investigated by Congress.

The idea that the richest man in America can purchase and — working closely with the U.S. Department of Education — impose new and untested academic standards on the nation’s public schools is a national scandal. A congressional investigation is warranted. The close involvement of Education Secretary Arne Duncan raises questions about whether the federal government overstepped its legal role in public education. (emphasis added)

This paragraph, towards the end of the article, says it all:

The reality is that the most reliable predictors of test scores are family income and family education. Nearly one-quarter of America’s children live in poverty. The Common Core standards divert our attention from the root causes of low academic achievement.

Economics Professor Dave Brat was stunned himself last night. In fact, it would be a draw as to who was more stunned, Brat in winning or Rep. Eric Cantor (R-Va) for being defeated.

With the backing of grassroots organizing, and without the names of the national Tea Party groups, Dave Brat spent less than $200k to Cantor’s $5  million campaign. Brat was able to capitalize on the backing of radio talk hosts like Laura Ingraham.

So what does Cantor’s defeat mean? The DNC and their talking heads are spinning this as the GOP in turmoil. Or could this be the wake up call the GOP Establishment needed? The next few weeks will be very important for the GOP, for the midterms in November and for the 2016 Presidential race. Let’s hope they know how to handle this situation and make it a positive for the country.

TOLERANCE.

That is the word we hear all the time. TOLERANCE on race issues. TOLERANCE on gay issues. Isn’t it time for TOLERANCE to be a 2-way street.

In Colorado, a baker did not want to bake a cake for a gay couple’s wedding. He has been found guilty of discrimination. Now he has received his sentence:

An Administrative Law judge in Colorado named Robert Spencer has issued an extraordinary rule in the case of Masterpiece Cake Shop which refused to help two homosexuals make a mockery of marriage.

A Colorado baker found guilty of discrimination for refusing to bake a wedding cake for a same-sex couple must go through sensitivity training as part of his penance and rehabilitation. In December of last year, Administrative Law Judge Robert Spencer found Jack Phillips, owner of Masterpiece Cake Shop in the Denver suburb of Lakewood, guilty of discriminating against same-sex couple Dave Mullin and Charlie Craig when he told them in July 2012 that he couldn’t bake them a wedding cake because homosexual behavior conflicted with his Christian beliefs.

Phillips appealed the verdict to the Colorado Civil Rights Commission, which stood by Spencer’s decision and ordered May 30 that Phillips be required to bake wedding cakes for same-sex couples in conflict with his moral Christian convictions. Additionally, Phillips and his staff will have to submit to a regimen of state-sanctioned sensitivity training to make sure they are in line with Colorado’s non-discrimination statute.

Over the next two years Phillips will also be required to submit quarterly reports to Colorado’s Civil Rights Commission concerning his business practices, informing the commission whether he has turned any business away, most importantly homosexual customers. “So if his shop is closed or he’s out of flour, he needs to report to the commission,” explained Nicolle Martin of Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), the conservative Christian legal advocacy group that represented Phillips in the case, to Fox News on June 5.

So, would it be discrimination if the same baker refused to bake a cake with a Swastika on it, as the RedState article infers?

And let me pose the question this way. IF you sat down with a baker, and you could tel that the baker was uncomfortable with the situation as the cake specifics were discussed, do you REALLY want that baker to be baking your cake?  When we have chosen a cake decorator, for birthdays, engagements, weddings, baptisms, etc., we have wanted the baker’s very best. This baker would not have intentionally caused a problem with the cake, but would his “heart” have been in the project?

TOLERANCE…. it does go both ways!!

The chatter is getting a little louder as the time draws closer. Hillary Clinton will make a decision to run for President, presumably in early 2015.

At the same time, speculation is growing that our present FLOTUS may have her eyes on the Senate seat in Illinois presently held by Sen. Mark Kirk (R). Kirk, a stroke survivor, has shown himself to be a fighter, battling his stroke to return to the duties of being the junior Senator from Illinois. But if a powerhouse figure such as Michelle Obama were to enter the race to challenge him in 2016, escpecially of Hillary is at the top of the ticket, does Kirk have the fortitude to wage that type of battle? Chicago’s Mayor Rahm Emmanuel (D) is also one who would be a beneficiary of a run by both Hillary and Michelle. Pollsters are showing that his reelection prospects are in trouble, but if both Hillary and Michelle were on a November 2016 ballot, he might ride their coattails back into office for another term.

Of course, all this assumes that the American electorate could stomach MORE Clinton years and MORE Obama years.

President William Howard Taft went on to be appointed to the US Supreme Court, and served as the Chief Justice.

So the idea of the current occupant of the White House ending up wearing the robe of the Justice’s isn’t that far-fetched. One could easily see, should Hillary Clinton run and be elected as our next President, her appointing Barack Obama to the bench when a vacancy occurs.

JAMES offers a different scenario, and perhaps one a bit scarier.

Imagine a seat opens on the US Supreme Court due to the retirement of any one of the Justices before November 2016. Barack Obama has to nominate someone to fill that seat. Our “Narcissist in Chief” can think of NO ONE more qualified than Barack H. Obama. He nominates himself and is confirmed, leaving Biden’s lifelong dream of being POTUS fulfilled, even if only for a short time. Add to that, if this were to occur in the near future, that a “President Biden” would need to nominate a Vice President…… Hillary Clinton.

All of this should give everyone pause, in light of the President’s apparent lack of following the law. Let us hope that there are no vacancies any time soon at the Court.

Hillary Michelle 2016

One would think that Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky) is not thrilled with the moderate, albeit RINO, stances that his colleague Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky). Yet, the junior Senator from Kentucky has endorsed the senior Senator from Kentucky in this year’s closely watched Senate race. McConnell is facing a Tea Party primary opponent, and if he squeaks through that round in May, he will face a hard battle with a Democrat with Bill Clinton in her corner.

So to get Paul’s endorsement, did McConnell play politics with family in choosing his campaign team. Perhaps that question should be addressed to his campaign manager, Jesse Benton. Mr. Benton, according to Wikipedia, “is a political consultant and libertarian activist known for working with conservative and libertarian organizations like Americans for Tax Reform, the Liberty Coalition, and the American Conservative Union. Benton is strongly associated with the Paul family, serving as a high-ranking staffer for both Ron Paul and Rand Paul.”

Benton’s “strong association” with the Paul family may come from his marriage to Valori Pyeatt. Ms. Pyeatt’s mother is Lori Paul Pyeatt, who happens to be Ron Paul’s daughter and Rand Paul’s sister.

Politics and family…. Family and Politics!!

state of america today

So, under the “ALAN COLMES” theory of democracy, if you challenge the President of the United States in the election process, and you LOSE that election, you forfeit your personal right to freedom of speech and expression!! And that applies EQUALLY to your wife of more than four decades!!

From his column in the Huffington Post, Alan Colmes writes:

Mitt Romney, rather than gracefully accepting defeat, continues to let us know he would have been a better president. Ann Romney, too, has expended energy bashing President Obama, ungraciously. Now comes a Wall Street Journal op-ed via Mitt Romney telling us what a failed leader the president is.

Colmes, for his liberal-biased part, feels that it is un-American for anyone, let alone Mitt and Ann Romney, to point out what is patently obvious to most of the rest of us, and apparently to Vladmir Putin and other world leaders, in that Barack Obama is a FAILED and WEAK PRESIDENT. History will eventually show that, to date, he is perhaps the WORST and WEAKEST President ever to sit in the Oval Office. (I’m sure Jimmy Carter is happy to have lived long enough to see someone “elevate” him from that role).
