It was the midnight showing of BATMAN, and it took a bit to realize that the tear gas and gun shots were real.
In Auroro CO, a mere 20 miles from the site of another horrendous massacre at Columbine High School, a packed movieplex is now the scene of a tragedy at the hands of some madman. At present, 12 are confirmed dead, ten on site, and over 50 injured taken to 4 area hospitals.
The perpetrator was taken into custody, supposedly without incident, as he attempted to get in his car. He claimed his vehicle and his apartment had explosives. Upon checking his apartment, the bomb squad has reportedly found a cache of ammunitions and other items, now being reported as “rigged” to explode.
Even as the tragedy continues to unfold, and the information about the shooter and the victims trickles out, the media could not contain themselves to get the upperhand on a story narrative, much as they did with the shooting of Cingresswoman Giffords. In the present case, they quickly honed into the fact that a “James Holmes” is a member of the Tea Party in Colorado. Instead of confirming that the James Holmes in custody is the same person involved with the Tea Party before reporting it, they made their story with the caveat that “it might not be” the same person.
A few minutes more time, and they would have found that the James Holmes in custody, a 24-year old, is NOT the 58-year old James Holmes who is a part of the Tea Party in CO.
Side note: Our government to this date has refused to acknowledge that the Ft Hood massacre was an act of terrorism, calling it “workplace violence”, and the media carefully avoided any ties to radical Muslims, etc. Why then could that same media not use the same control in avoiding any rush to judgment as to the motives, etc., in this tragic incident? Why?
