As dawn came on this beautiful Monday, word came from the Vatican, not that the head of the Catholic Church had passed away, but that in his advanced years, Pope Benedict XVI has decided that he should resign, and allow the Cardinals to select his successor. His retirement will begin officially on February 28th, 2013, and many speculate that a conclave of the Cardinals will convene to have a new Pope in place before Easter.

It has been more than 600 years since a vacancy in the Papacy has occurred in this manner.

Will the next Pope be from Africa, Asia, or perhaps the United States? And if he is from the United States, will that change the Obama administration’s constatnt ongoing attack on religions? Just food for thought!!

You know that someone’s job is on the line for this security breach.

In a state that has a large Catholic population, AG Martha Coakley may have just uttered the words to “seal the deal” for Scott Brown:

“You can have religious freedom but you probably shouldn’t work in the emergency room.”   The entire interview is posted here.

Democrat Martha Coakley was on with Ken Pittman from WBSM in Massachusetts today. Martha told Ken that if you object to abortion and are a devout Catholic then…
“You probably shouldn’t work in the emergency room.”

The DEMS are worried, fearing that the fate of the Obama agenda rests on the shoulders of a candidate who ran a campaign of complacency!

A recent Gallup poll shows that more Americans take a “Pro-Life” stance with regard to abortion issues, for the first time in the polls.

Caroline Kennedy-to-Vatican rumor sparks Catholic outrage

Reaction to Caroline Kennedy’s potential appointment as U.S. Ambassador to the Vatican continued to sour yesterday as one conservative Catholic group called the possible nomination “a calculated insult to the Holy See.”

“It’s inappropriate to appoint someone who pretends to be a Catholic but rejects the fundamental teachings of the Church,” said C.J. Doyle, executive director of the Massachusetts Catholic Action League.

Buzz continued unabated yesterday that Kennedy was under consideration by President Obama for the post, despite the fact she is pro-choice. U.S. Catholic officials are closely scrutinizing the appointment.

10 Holy Cross priests object to Obama invitation

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Ten priests from the order that founded the University of Notre Dame say the school risks its “true soul” and could distance itself from the Roman Catholic Church by inviting President Barack Obama to campus next month.

The members of the Congregation of the Holy Cross, which helps run the university, asked the Rev. John Jenkins, the Holy Cross priest who is Notre Dame’s president, and the university’s board of fellows to reconsider the invitation to Obama because he supports abortion rights.

“Failure to do so will damage the integrity of the institution,” said the letter published Wednesday in Notre Dame Observer.
