The Obama-Chicago-Illinois dirty politics saga just keeps more intriguing!!
Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich (D), who has been under state and federal investigation as a result of his ties to close Obama-ally convicted felon Tony Rezko, was taken into federal custody today. His arrest, however, is not tied to his links to Rezko.
Instead, the Illinois Governor has been secretly recorded in wiretaps allegedly trying to “SELL” the U.S. Senate seat that was vacated when President-Elect resigned (perhaps prematurely). The seat has had many seekers, including Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., as well as Obama’s State Senate mentor Emil Jones. Even Blagojevich’s sister-in-law was mentioned.
Just 24 hours after attacking Bank of America for accepting taxpayer dollars from the federal bailout (funds that Bank of America CEO states they did not need nor ask for, but were “told” they would take), and then “causing” the closure of Republic Window & Door by cutting their credit line, the Governor finds himself under attack. Blagojevich wanted to force Bank of America to pay the laid-off workers the pay, vacation, etc. that they were due.
The authorities in Illinois have scheduled a press conference at noon to give more details on Blagojevich’s arrest. The wiretap recordings should prove very interesting!!
UPDATE LINK: USAToday link with updates:
The U.S. Attorney’s office outlined the highlights of the 76 page affidavit used to arrest Gov. Blagojevich this morning. The “SALE” of the US Senate seat is only ONE of the alleged “Pay for Play” schemes that the Governor was recorded discussing.
More than 2500 days have passed since the extreme Islamic jihadists, at the direction of Osama bin Laden, attacked the United States on our own soil. Whatever else that is said or blamed upon the Bush administration, he can receive credit for leading a positive war on terrorism.
It is that war on terrorism that has caused us to look at things more carefully, perhaps more cynically. For just that reason, the very fact that Sen. Obama has chosen during 21 months of campaigning to downplay any mere mention of his ties with William Ayers or the Syrian born Tony Rezko, his relationship with Rashid Khalidi, or why Percy Sutton of NY was asked by Kahlid Al-Mansour to write a letter of recommendation to Harvard for Obama (who Sutton says he did not know), are important questions to be addressed. They are just as important as the issues of the economy and health care, since they are at the heart of national security. Is the implication that Obama is a terrorist? Probably not, at least not in the sense that we envision. But terrorism can be done in many ways, not just in the militant means of Bill Ayers.

The following synopsis and link were sent to me earlier today. I submit them as “food for thought”:
HAS AMERICA BEEN BO-JACKED?
IS Barack Obama ‘THE CHOSEN ONE’ ?
OsamaBinLaden targeted democracy and capitalism, when he bombed the World Trade Center, killing innocent civilians.
OBL says he will destroy us.
Is it possible that we have Iran, Russia, Cuba, Venezuela, North Korea & China either working together to cause financial meltdown in the USA, AND/or working independently to do the same?
Is this financial crisis our SUICIDE BOMB? And WHO launched it?
Is Barack Obama another type of BOMB created to destroy DEMOCRACY and CAPITALISM?
What is a “home grown terrorist”, actually?
I found this interesting article, written by Reverend Ted Pike who has spent some time searching for the definition of “home grown terrorist”. He seems to think that those of us who are fighting AGAINST socialism, could be somehow defined as TERRORISTS based on his research!
How do YOU interpret this article?
Quoting Bill O’Reilly: “What say You!!!”??

Like the baracuda that she had been portrayed as at the Republican National Convention, Gov. Sarah Palin has emerged from the Vice-Presidential debates with a renewed thunder. In her appearances since the debate, and in interviews with Carl Cameron of FOXNews, she has shown the fiesty side of the candidate, and she is prepared for the last four weeks of campaigning.

All of this is to the chagrin of the Obama campaign. On Saturday, after the front page New York Times article about Obama’s relationship with admitted terrorist William Ayers, Gov. Palin mentioned the relationship to the crowd she was addressing. Aiming on the theme of character and judgment, Palin’s comments led to the conclusion that do we really know Barack Obama.
In responding to Palin’s discussions of Ayers, the Obama campaign, through many of its surrogates, said that Gov. Palin’s comments are “tinged with racism”!
Can anyone please explain how raising a question on Obama’s associations is racist? How is asking any question about the background or philosophies of Obama racist?
Today, in Florida, Palin continued her association rhetoric, and got in her digs at Katie Couric as well, saying three time in less than a minute that “while reading my copy of the New York Times” she read the Ayers’ story. This was an obvious dig at Couric’s questioning of Palin’s news sources last week.
Gov. Palin has said that its going to get rough from here on until the election, and while there are extremely important issues for the candidates to discuss, that since the media failed to vet Obama, there will be more stories to come forward about Rev. Wright, Rashid Khalidi, Tony Rezko, maybe even Larry Sinclair. Rev. Wright was one of Palin’s topics yesterday on the campaign trail.
Sen. McCain will focus on the economy, on our foreign policy, on healthcare, and he will let the Hockey Mom express why Obama’s associations make him Dangerous!!
After months of attacking the concept of lobbyists and in exposing the lobbyists who were advising the McCain campaign, the strategists at Team Obama are refusing to release the names of their top advisors, although they are acknowledging that some are or were lobbyists.
After publicly promising to use funds through the public campaign finance system, Team Obama backed out of the promise to be able to continue their enormous fundraising efforts, much to the chagrin of the Democratic National Party.
After declaring a transparent campaign, one different from the past, Team Obama has refused to allow the release of Obama’s records from Occidental College AND Columbia University.
After being challenged by Sen. McCain to travel with him to a series of TownHall style debates, Team Obama refused to meet with Sen. McCain, except for the three debates already scheduled.
Along with his other “non-transparent” actions, such as Ayers, Rezko, and his birth certificate, one has to wonder exactly who and what Sen. Obama is hiding from the public. As his struggling campaign is showing, Obama is not the candidate of change, and he is just another politician.
