In an upcoming article in Vanity Fair, Nancy Reagan acknowledges that she feels her husband’s presence, that she misses him dearly, and that Barack Obama missed a golden opportunity in his stem cell research changes by not having her present to support the initiative.

Today, President Obama slowly escorted the gracious First Lady while he signed legislation that will honor the 100th anniversary of Ronald Reagan’s birthday on February 6, 2011. Speaking kindly of Ronald Reagan, and then joking with Nancy Reagan as he signed the legislation, Mrs. Reagan appeared as the “family” matriarch, with Obama being respectful of Mrs. Reagan’s role in our American story.

Nancy Reagan– a True First Lady!!

A recent Gallup poll shows that more Americans take a “Pro-Life” stance with regard to abortion issues, for the first time in the polls.

Va. Bishop Becomes 43rd To Speak Out Against Notre Dame

By JOHN P. CONNOLLY, The Bulletin
Friday, April 24, 2009

Bishop Paul S. Loverde of the Diocese of Arlington, Va., added his voice to 42 other bishops in opposing Notre Dame’s planned honor of President Barack Obama at commencement on May 17, 2009.

Bishop Loverde’s statement was included in a letter from the Arlington chancellor to a parishioner, the text of which was made public with the permission of the Arlington Diocese.

“While he has been in office only a few short months, President Obama’s actions with respect to life issues already have been a source of grave concern to Catholics,” Bishop Loverde wrote. “You can read my statements on these issues, including the lifting of the Mexico City policy, funding for embryonic stem cell research and the proposed removal of conscience protections for health care workers, at www.arlingtondiocese.com. I share [in the] dismay that Notre Dame, contrary to the direction provided by the bishops, has chosen to extend to him an invitation, which — despite the University’s statements to the contrary — undoubtedly will be viewed by many as approbation of his policies.”

The Notre Dame University, the home of the “Fighting Irish”, was on the list of the schools were President Barack Obama would give this year’s Commencement addresses, and his speechwriter Jon Favreau is feverishly getting the TOTUS prepared to present Obama with more of his “great orations”.

However, after the announcement, many students, alumni, and members of the Archdiocese have expressed outrage at the idea that Notre Dame’s President, Father Jenkins, has chosen the idea of “POPULAR” over “PRINCIPLE” in asking President Obama to speak at the Commencement.

The following is the online petition to Father Jenkins at Notre Dame:

PETITION to Father Jenkins, President of the university of notre dame

Dear Father Jenkins:

It has come to our attention that the University of Notre Dame will honor President Barack Obama as its commencement speaker on May 17.

It is an outrage and a scandal that “Our Lady’s University,” one of the premier Catholic universities in the United States, would bestow such an honor on President Obama given his clear support for policies and laws that directly contradict fundamental Catholic teachings on life and marriage.

This nation has many thousands of accomplished leaders in the Catholic Church, in business, in law, in education, in politics, in medicine, in social services, and in many other fields who would be far more appropriate choices to receive such an honor from the University of Notre Dame.

Instead Notre Dame has chosen prestige over principles, popularity over morality. Whatever may be President Obama’s admirable qualities, this honor comes on the heels of some of the most anti-life actions of any American president, including expanding federal funding for abortions and inviting taxpayer-funded research on stem cells from human embryos.

The honor also comes amid great concern among Catholics nationwide about President Obama’s future impact on American society, the family, and the Catholic Church on issues such as traditional marriage, conscience protections for Catholic doctors and nurses, and expansion of abortion “rights.”

This honor is clearly a direct violation of the U.S. bishops’ 2004 mandate in “Catholics in Political Life”: “The Catholic community and Catholic institutions should not honor those who act in defiance of our fundamental moral principles. They should not be given awards, honors or platforms which would suggest support for their actions.”

We prayerfully implore you to halt this travesty immediately. We do so with the hope that Catholics nationwide will likewise call on you to uphold the sacred mission of your Catholic university. May God grant you the courage and wisdom to do what is right.

Sincerely,   Link to Petition:  http://notredamescandal.com/

There is a reason why the President and Congress need to take the time to READ !!!!

Researchers, stem cell advocates, and others were excited that President Barack Obama signed an order on Monday to lift President Bush’s ban on federal funds being used in stem cell research. Even First Lady Nancy Reagan expressed praise for the action, with thoughts it might aid in the cure for Alzheimer’s Disease.

But what the Obamessiah giveth to the masses, he quickly and quietly takes away!

As we are all well aware, the $410 billion dollar omnibus bill to fund the government through September 30th was passed by the Congress and, without postuing it for 5 days as promised, and without the glaring fanfare f his other signings, Barack Obama quietly signed the legislation on Wednesday. He was more concerned with “separating” himself from the 8500+ earmarks in the bill (though his name was removed rom those he requested), than he was with the content of the legislation.

That fact has quietly already come back to haunt Obama and Congress. Within the Omnibus bill, there is a clause that “BANS” the use of federal funds for……. STEM CELL RESEARCH.!!

Go Figure !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congressman Labels Obama ‘Abortion President’ Ahead of Stem Cell Reversal

Rep. Chris Smith, R-N.J., accused Obama of launching two attacks on pro-life measures.

One of the most outspoken abortion opponents in Congress labeled President Obama the “abortion president” on Friday in response to news that Obama intended to sign an executive order Monday lifting restrictions on federal funding for embryonic stem cell research.

Rep. Chris Smith, R-N.J., accused Obama of launching two attacks on pro-life measures. In addition to lifting President Bush’s stem cell restrictions, Obama intends to lift regulations from the Bush administration that allow health care providers and institutions to refuse to participate in abortions on grounds of conscience.

Smith labeled Obama’s stem cell policy an expansion of “human embryo experimentation.”

“Why does the president persist in the dehumanizing of nascent human life when better alternatives exist? Human embryo-destroying stem cell research is not only unethical, unworkable and unreliable- it is now, demonstrably unnecessary,” Smith said.

The long-promised move on stem cell research will allow a rush of research aimed at one day better treating, if not curing, ailments from diabetes to paralysis — research that crosses partisan lines, backed by such notables as Nancy Reagan and the late Christopher Reeve. But it stirs intense controversy over whether government crosses a moral line with such research.

Embryonic stem cells are master cells that can morph into any cell of the body. Scientists hope to harness them so they can create replacement tissues to treat a variety of diseases — such as new insulin-producing cells for diabetics, cells that could help those with Parkinson’s disease or maybe even Alzheimer’s, or new nerve connections to restore movement after spinal injury.

But the research is controversial because days-old embryos must be destroyed to obtain the cells. They typically are culled from fertility-clinic leftovers otherwise destined to be thrown away.

Under President Bush, taxpayer money for that research was limited to a small number of stem cell lines that were created before Aug. 9, 2001, lines that in many cases had some drawbacks that limited their potential usability.
