Is ObamaLand in a Tumble from Upon High? DNC Scales back Convention & List of Non-Attendees Grows

News comes today that the DNC is in the process of scaling back on some of the events surrounding its Convention in Charlotte, NC.

Add to that the list of Democrats who are opting out of attending the Big Event. Along with Sen. Manchin of West Virginia, Claire McCaskill has announced today that she will not be in attendance. Others include Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin, and Rep. Nick Rahall all of West Virginia, and Montana Sen. Jon Tester, Pennsylvania Rep. Mark Critz, New York Reps. Kathy Hochul and Bill Owens.

From West Virginia, the RNC notes:

“We all know the only reason they’re refusing to attend the DNC Convention is they’re afraid to tell the people of West Virginia who they support for President, and any attempt to suggest otherwise is political spin aimed at purposefully misleading the voters,” Conrad Lucas, chairman of the West Virginia Republican Party said in a statement following the news that Sen. Joe Manchin, Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin, and Rep. Nick Rahall would not be heading to the convention.

      It is amazing how they are trying to distance themselves. It is amazing how in a mere 4 years the glamour of the Mile High City, with an acceptance speech in a setting like the Greek Parthenoen, the spark has dwindled to an ember.

Now the President is bashing Romney’s fundraising efforts, whining that he will be the first sitting POTUS to be outspent in his reelection campaign, citing that he cannot spend as much time fundraising because as POTUS he has more important things to do. REALLY REALLY. Is he joking!!??

Claire McCaskill To Reimburse the Govt For $88k Worth of Charter Plane Flights She Expensed; Has Ownership in the “Charter Plane” Company

WASHINGTON — Sen. Claire McCaskill‘s office said Wednesday she plans to pay the U.S. Treasury $88,000 to cover the cost of charter flights she organized through a company in which she and her husband have an ownership stake.

The Missouri Democrat’s husband, Joe Shepard, incorporated Sunset Cove Associates LLC in 2002. The company owns an eight-seat, twin-engine plane which, according to records, McCaskill’s Senate office has paid to use 89 times out of taxpayer funds.

News of McCaskill’s use of the plane was first reported by Politico.com on Wednesday. The announcement that she would reimburse taxpayers came after the story was published online, out of an “abundance of caution,” according to spokeswoman Maria Speiser.

Twelve Democratic Senators spent last weekend in Miami Beach raising money from top lobbyists for oil, drug, and other corporate interests that they often decry, according to a guest list for the event obtained by POLITICO.

The guest list for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee’s “winter retreat” at the Ritz Carlton South Beach Resort doesn’t include the price tag for attendance, but the maximum contribution to the committee, typical for such events, is $30,000. There, to participate in “informal conversations” and other meetings Saturday, were senators including DSCC Chairman Robert Menendez; Michigan’s Carl Levin and Debbie Stabenow; Bob Casey of Pennsylvania; Claire McCaskill of Missouri; freshmen Kay Hagan of North Carolina and Mark Begich of Alaska; and even left-leaning Bernie Sanders of Vermont.

Across the table was a who’s who of 108 senior Washington lobbyists, including the top lobbying officials for many of the industries Democrats regularly attack: Represented were the American Bankers Association, the tobaco company Altria, the oil company Marathon, several drug manufacturers, the defense contractor Lockheed, and most of the large independent lobbying firms: Ogilvy, BGR, Quinn Gillespie, Heather Podesta, and Tony Podesta.

Sen. McCaskill Urges “Open” ObamaCare Negotiations

McCASKILL CALLS FOR C-SPAN MONITORED REFORM NEGOTIATIONS

Senator Claire McCaskill, a Missouri Democrat who usually backs the Obama administration on everything, has called for an end to the Obama-Reid C-SPAN blackout.

She also backs open health reform negotiations in the conference committee format that Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi want to circumvent. Here’s an excerpt from her statement:

As I said to Channel 4 in St. Louis on Monday, it’s my opinion that we should open up any further negotiations between the House and the Senate to C-SPAN so the public can watch. I believe that the best way for these negotiations to occur is through the conference committee process, and I have communicated my opinion to the leadership of my party in the Senate.

Soldier Demand Apology from Sen. Claire McCaskill at Town Hall Meeting

     Hundreds showed up to discuss their disdain for the ObamaCare policies, as well as Cap N’ Trade and the Stimulus Package. In the midst of it, one of our brave young soldiers stood to demand an apology from the Senator:

     It has been said that if you want to know what is going on in Washington, just look at the record. From the record, it appears that as the clamoring began over the fact that Sen. John McCain was born in the Panama Canal Zone to American citizens (serving in the military), Barack Obama attached himself to McCain’s cause as a means of protecting himself as well.

     A bill  known as S. 2678: Children of Military Families Natural Born Citizen Act. The bill was co-sponsored by Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL), Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY), Sen. Robert Menendez (D-NJ), and Sen. Thomas Coburn (R-OK), in February 2008. This Act attempted to allow the Senate to make changes to the Constitution’s Article II, Section 1, Clause 5 with reference to the definition of “natural born citizen” and that requirement as it applies to the eligibility of the President of the United States. This bill met the same defaet that similar changes to the Naturalization Act had faced.

     Is there irony in the fact that this legislation was sponsored by Presidential candidates in the midst of the elction, one now being the subject of more than 30 lawsuits, challenging his eligibility!

Obama applies the Sedition Act theory to his Campaign; Gov. Blunt “bluntly” tells Obama to “GROW UP”

     The Sedition Act of 1918 was a measure put forth at the urging of President Woodrow Wilson during World War I as an amendment to the Espionage Act. Its primary purpose was to squash the publication and voicing of dissent about the war effort.

    Now, 90 years later, the campaign of Barack Obama has reached deep into history and are attempting to apply the principles of the Sedition Act to any unfavorable news story about Sen. Obama. The latest example has come from the office of Sen. Claire McCaskill, the National Chairperson of the Obama campaign. Sen. McCaskill has announced the members of the Obama Truth Squad:  St. Louis County Circuit Attorney Bob McCulloch, St. Louis City Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce, Jefferson County Sheriff Glenn Boyer.

Washington, DC – September 26, 2008 – Barack Obama is now using local law enforcement officials to carry out his campaign of legal intimidation by assembling a group of high-ranking Missouri police officials and prosecutors – including St. Louis County Prosecutor Bob McCullough and City of St. Louis Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce – to identify and target anyone the campaign determines is producing “misleading” political advertisements.

“This is an outrageous and shocking attempt by the Obama campaign to again employ Stalinist, police state tactics against those who dare to disagree with Barack Obama,” said Ed Martin, American Issues Projects president.   “I am frankly stunned to see public officials like McCullough and Joyce abusing their official prosecutorial positions to serve as attack dogs for a national political campaign.  I am quite certain Missourians elected these individuals to enforce the laws and arrest criminals, not to throw people in jail for daring to practicing free speech.

“The Obama campaign continues to provide a chilling preview of what would happen to political freedom in an Obama administration.”

This new effort is only the most recent attempt by the Obama campaign to crack down on free speech.  Obama’s lawyers twice demanded the Department of Justice investigate and prosecute the American Issues Project, its officers, board of directors, and donors.  The campaign also threatened stations running American Issues Project’s ad in an unsuccessful attempt to compel them to pull the spot, and ran its own ad in response. 

Notably, this ad failed to dispute a single fact the American Issues Project has put forth.

      This is just the latest example of Obama trying to keep what it does not want known hidden. Obama has tried, unsuccessfully, to have the Department of Justice investigate the parties who produced and aired a 527 ad on the relationship between Obama and WeatherUnderground operative William Ayers. To the credit of the DOJ, they said they would not participate in Obama witch hunts.

     Today, the National Rifle Association acknowledged that several media outlets in Pennsylvania and Ohio had received cease and desist letters from the Obama campaign, citing that the ads “distorted” his gun control positions. Of course, we need to remember that Obama’s elitist comment about the Bible holding gun toters of Pennsylvania are the target of some of the ads.

 

     The Obama Truth Squad, while never stating outright threats of prosecution, the mere position of power of the participants places the threat of intimidation at its highest point. Missouri’s Governor Matt Blunt, angered immensely by the news of this outrageous abuse of power, issued the following statement:
