VanHollen: Avoid Discussions about Unconstitutional Actions Ahead
March 13, 2010 in Campaign 2008, Campaign 2010, Campaign 2012, Capitalism, Economy, Family values, Health care reform, Politics, Uncategorized | Tags: Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, ObamaCare, redstate.com, Rep. Chris VanHollen, universal healthcare, US Constitution | Leave a comment
Rep. Chris VanHollen, Speaker Pelosi’s right hand hatchet man, has advised the Democrat staffers to clear schedules for a vote on Friday or Saturday, saying that it is “no coincidence” that Barack Obama has delayed his Indonesian trip until Sunday. He also wants any and all discussions about the “hows” of passing the bill to be avoided, so the American public is unaware of the unconstitutional manner in which this travesty of legislation will be forced down the throats of a constituency who have made it very clear that they want healthcare reform, but not in this way.
It is not suprising that Van Hollen advised members to avoid any talk about the unconstitutional manner in which they are considering to pass the bill.
The Van Hollen memo also advised members to avoid talking about the process. “At this point, we have to just rip the band-aid off and have a vote — up or down; yes or no? Things like reconciliation and what the rules committee does is INSIDE BASEBALL,” the memo says. “People who try and start arguments about process on this are almost always against the actual policy substance too, often times for purely political reasons.”
It is time to man the phones, the faxes, and the emails:

Rahm Hasn’t Realized He’s Not the Chief of Staff
March 5, 2010 in Campaign 2008, Campaign 2010, Campaign 2012, Capitalism, Economy, Family values, Politics, Uncategorized | Tags: Barack Obama, David Axelrod, Erick Ericson, Rahm Emanuel, redstate.com, Valerie Jarrett | 3 comments
Reading between the lines, Rahm Emanuel is dead. He may not know it, but the man has no pulse left. His ghost is now trying to defend his legacy in the White House. Chief of Staff — the real one — Valerie Jarrett killed Rahm.
How do I know? I’ve heard from multiple people who, interestingly enough, are close to the White House who tell me that David Axelrod and Valerie Jarrett are calling the shots and Obama increasingly relies on Jarrett for advice because she knows the Obamas, not necessarily Washington.
Then there are all the pro-Rahm stories in the last few weeks. Those stories do not happen randomly. There is a purpose. And the prevailing message is simple — if the President would listen to Rahm Emanuel, he’d not be in the mess he presently is in. And if Rahm is not being listened to and is now leaking that he is not being listened to, the wheels on the bus will go round and round over his body.
But the stories are right. The wheels are falling off the bus. Without a good knowledge of Washington, the Chicago Way fails in the inertia. Let’s start the Official Rahm Emanuel Dead Pool. We know Valerie Jarrett already killed him. But his body has yet to emerge from the White House.

A Teachable Moment(s) for Obama?

Via Hot Air Headlines) Let me add a thought to this observation by Jazz Shaw:
It seems to me that Obama is a good enough politician that he can read the writing on the wall. He’s going to have to start dealing with a significantly more powerful Republican force in Congress next year and seems to be laying the groundwork to get something done. Smart for the Republicans. Smart for Obama. The problem is, a lot of the President’s most liberal supporters are clearly having a hard time coping with the idea of both parties having some input to the governmental process. They’ll come along kicking and screaming sooner or later, but for now it’s going to remain The Audacity of Cope.
…which is this: the President does not need a Beijing Consensus in order to look good. In fact, a drubbing of his party in November would probably be excuse enough for him to abandon what are a whole raft of unpopular policy positions, appear ‘bipartisan,’ and run on that in 2012. It would require a certain willingness for the President to throw his legislative colleagues under the bus en masse, though: and, really, how likely is that?

from Erick Erickson at RedState.com:
The leftists of the world are in full cry mode over me pointing out Ted Kennedy is to blame for Scott Brown getting elected. It is a simple truth that even Rick Sanchez had to admit, on CNN, made sense.
Nonetheless, some silly leftist emailed me at my city council address a link to a thread at a leftwing site where they are attacking me for speaking truth to idiots. And, just to make sure I knew he/she/it knew who I was, he/she/it put at the bottom my both mine and my wife’s name, along with our home address and old non-working phone number.
Extra points for that.
By the way, here is the Rick Sanchez segment:
Coakley Goes Negative with a “Nazi” Ad against Brown; Brown Politely Responds

Scott Brown Responds to Martha Coakley’s Negative ‘Nazi’ Ad

Martha Coakley unloaded a nasty ad last night full of dark, harsh tones, lies and subliminal images, including one distorted image of Rush Limbaugh with his hand up a ‘heil’ manner.
Brown fires back with a positive ad challenging Coakley’s camp. The difference between the two ads and the two candidates couldn’t be more stark. But will it work?
Brown could have ignored it. Brown could have hit back just as hard. Or Brown could have taken this middle ground. All three options bear risks and rewards. Brown chose to confront the negative attack ads and the lies, but he stays positive.
This is your money bomb money at work, fighting a nefarious Democratic machine attack ad.
What do you think:

RedState: No Utopias, I am an American

I am an American; a birthright I am very proud to declare at every opportunity.
As an American, I want to be free to live in the random world God has created for us. I don’t want it to be free of chaos or danger or injury or failure. That’s what makes the world what it is. And, I’m accepting of that frenetic state of affairs.
President Obama, as with every other Utopian, would rob us of the travails necessary for the betterment of our human condition. It is the Utopian fallacy of the Progressive Movement that is the single greatest threat to not only our lives, but to the continued existence of the United States of America.
I do not want to live in a risk-free world. I do not want to be protected from the world or from myself. I am just fine. Life, to me, is about learning all I can about the world, others, and myself. By doing so, I will return to my Creator all the richer for having lived.
I believe that God gave us Free Will, and that it is an extraordinary demonstration of His love for us. With free will, we have the power to decide for ourselves if we want to believe in and serve God, or not. We aren’t forced to believe in God. It is all up to us.
Along with free will, God provided us with a chaotic universe created expressly to teach us. It is designed to allow us to succeed and to fail. Failure, as any wise person knows, is the single greatest learning experience there is. If we are diligent pupils, we will accept failure and learn from it. Should we choose to do so, we not only come to understand why certain behaviors or endeavors are not good for us or for the world, but we also become wiser.
Americans must uniformly reject the Progressive philosophy. Its proponents hate the chaotic nature of the world, and, by extension, they hate God. By their very nature, Progressives feel ill-equipped to handle adversity. To them, the freedom God granted us is a curse. That is why they seek to control every aspect of life that they can. That is why they seek to control others.

RedState: Dems on Verge of ObamaCare Deal

Senate Democrats on Verge of Deal
Posted by Erick Erickson (Profile)
Tuesday, December 15th at 9:06AM EST
Don’t believe everything you hear. The Senate Democrats are not on the verge of a collapse. They are on the verge of compromising every single thing they want just so they can get a “health care reform” bill passed.
Here’s what I’m being told:
The Democrats have given Joe Lieberman everything he wanted. Joe will now vote for the bill.
Ben Nelson (D-NE) is being threatened with having every major military installation in Nebraska shut down. Yes, I know, but the Democrats are playing for keeps on this and health care “reform” is more important to them than the military.
Liberals are being told they have to accept this to given them any credibility going into next year’s election. They don’t want to be accused of “killing reform.”

GOP Can Stop ObamaCare; The Key is: FIGHT

“If you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed, if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not too costly, you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a small chance of survival. There may even be a worse case: you may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves.”
— Winston Churchill
The Founding Fathers created a Republic, but 60 Senators are poised to take it away. With the pending disaster of the passage in the Senate of a bill nationalizing one sixth of the U.S. economy and our entire healthcare system at a cost of over $2.5 trillion, we are faced with a crucial question: are the Republican senators using every means at their disposal to stop this looming, tyrannical abuse of power? Unfortunately, the answer appears to be “no.”

GOP’s Scozzafava is an “Abramoff Republican”; Family Getting the Benefits of Fundraising $$$
October 24, 2009 in Campaign 2008, Campaign 2010, Campaign 2012, Family values, Politics, Uncategorized | Tags: 34996, Barack Obama, Dede Scozzafava, Deidre Scozzafava, Jack Abramoff, Pearl han Ashcraft, Pearl Han Productions LLC, redstate.com, strategic consulting, Stuard NY, Stuart FL, Thomas Scozzafava, WiseBuys Inc | 1 comment
RedState.com is reporting the “family ties” that are benefitting from the New York 23rd Congressional District GOP candidacy of Dede Scozzafava.
It appears that Dede Scozzafava (real name “Diedre” )was employed by her brother, Thomas Scozzafava, whose companies have amassed thousands of dollars in unpaid taxes and liens. Scozzafava’s business, WiseBuys Inc., is incorporated in Deleware. On one of her campaign disclosure reports, Scozzafava reported payments for “Strategic Consulting” to Pearl Han Productions LLC, in the amount of $375,000.
The report lists Pearl Han Productions LLC address as 2001 SE Sailfish Pt #112, Stuard, NY 34996. The problem is that there is no such CITY in New York, and no such company incorporated in New York. However, 34996 is a legit zip code, in Stuart Florida !!
So, it appears that there is such an address in Stuart, FL: 2001 S.E. Sailfish Pt. Blvd. #112, Stuart, FL 34996, Looks like a real rundown area! (FYI- Several Units are for sale:
http://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/Stuart_FL_34996_1094022052
)
A check of Florida’s Secretary of State site for Corporations reveals that Pearl Han Productions LLC was incorporated in the State of Florida. (PDF). AFTER Dede Scozzafava began her campaign. Pearl Han Ashcraft is the WIFE of Thomas Scozzafava, thus she is Dede’s sister-in-law
Stuart, Fl, the “Sailfish Capital of the World” is in Martin County, and from the Property Appraiser’s site, the address for Pearl Han Productions LLC, the owner of 2001 SE Sailfish Point, #112, Stuart, FL is Thomas Scozzafava. Mr. Scozzafava bouth the unit in 2001 for $500k. (

).
So, is Deidre Scozzafava another Jack Abramoff?
Faux Diversity: Left “advertises” for Protestors– Paid to Attend!

It seems that the left is performing the AstroTurf that Speaker Pelosi so heartily throws comments about. Craigslist seems to be inundated with “ads” seeking people who will be PAID to attend the townhall meetings as a show of support for the ObamaCare:
http://www.redstate.com/absentee/2009/08/09/lets-talk-astroturf/
“That last one might be my favorite. “Women and People of Color and Members of the GLBT community are strongly encouraged to apply.” Paying for diversity. Can’t you feel them ooozing progressive-osity? I feel tolerant all over!!
There are literally hundreds more. Go to Craigslist. Have fun. And ask yourself who the astroturfers are. Michelle Malkin may have an answer for you. Also find more at Looking At The Left. Or RedState diarist Charlie. Ed Morrissey has a great report here. And of course, RedState’s Jeff Emanuel.”
