Caroline Kennedy-to-Vatican rumor sparks Catholic outrage

Reaction to Caroline Kennedy’s potential appointment as U.S. Ambassador to the Vatican continued to sour yesterday as one conservative Catholic group called the possible nomination “a calculated insult to the Holy See.”

“It’s inappropriate to appoint someone who pretends to be a Catholic but rejects the fundamental teachings of the Church,” said C.J. Doyle, executive director of the Massachusetts Catholic Action League.

Buzz continued unabated yesterday that Kennedy was under consideration by President Obama for the post, despite the fact she is pro-choice. U.S. Catholic officials are closely scrutinizing the appointment.

Ok, don’t start with the line that “Obama is a Christian”!! Yes, I get it. Yes, he says that he was converted by his spiritual mentor the Reverend Jeremiah Wright. These are Obama’s words… just words…. and we know what value (or lack thereof) there is in his Just Words.

So, our good neighbors to the North see his recent actions a sign of not just his ineptness for his new job, but that he lacks theollogical conviction. The example is that he has agreed to allow the United States to sign onto the United Nations Decrinalization of Homosexuality agreement.

     Canada Free Press writes:

The President has announced to the Congress his intentions to sign the UN declaration that calls for the decriminalization of homosexuality. The declaration that George W. Bush shunned has now been OK’d by all 27 member nations of the European Union.

Ignoring the moral sensibilities of over half of the American public Barack Obama has proven that the hallmarks of his presidency will be to further amorality, prurient interests and the gay agenda regardless of America’s Christian heritage or the basic sentiments of the population. He has hit the ground running on pro-abortion and gay agenda causes that are causing disgust all the way from little independent fundamental churches to the Vatican.

The Bible does hold that homosexuality is a crime against nature but Barack Obama has assured the doubtful that they needn’t take the Apostle Paul’s warning in the first chapter of the book of Romans too seriously because it is after all “obscure” according to Obama in the Christian Post Mar 04, 2008.

Nature doesn’t have any courts so for the moment the gays are on relatively safe ground but according to scripture natures God does have a final session coming up.

It is becoming increasingly apparent that the Presidents ineptness at politics is second only to his weakness in theological treatise. Putting the ‘Sermon on the Mount’ over against or above the warnings against homosexuality made by Paul shows that Obama thinks the scripture is only inspired in spots and he sees himself as perfectly qualified to spot the spots!

Setting the stage for a showdown with the pro-life proponents of abortion, Pres. Barack Obama is set to challenge the faith of many physicians by reversing a Bush directive that pemitted physicians to refuse to perform procedures that would be at odds with the physician’s faith.

Bush gave healthcare providers the option of refusing to perform controversial procedures that the physician might feel are morally repugnant, such as abortion, sterilization or birth control. Obama views a reversal of this puts the patient back in control. “This policy of potentially allowing providers to refuse to provide contraception or family planning runs counter to the administration’s goal of reducing abortions and unwanted pregnancies,” an HHS official said on background. It also could lead into other areas of medical care.”

The Catholic Church has been watching this change carefully, along with legisaltion being formulated in Congress.

My question is why should a doctor be required to perform an abortion if he is opposed to such, when the patient is then free to go to another physician who would be willing to perform the procedure?
