A Thanksgiving Message to All 57 States

by Sarah Palin on Thursday, November 25, 2010 at 5:46pm

My fellow Americans in all 57 states, the time has changed for come. With our country founded more than 20 centuries ago, we have much to celebrate – from the FBI’s 100 days to the reforms that bring greater inefficiencies to our health care system. We know that countries like Europe are willing to stand with us in our fight to halt the rise of privacy, and Israel is a strong friend of Israel’s. And let’s face it, everybody knows that it makes no sense that you send a kid to the emergency room for a treatable illness like asthma and they end up taking up a hospital bed. It costs, when, if you, they just gave, you gave them treatment early, and they got some treatment, and ah, a breathalyzer, or an inhalator. I mean, not a breathalyzer, ah, I don’t know what the term is in Austrian for that…

Of course, the paragraph above is based on a series of misstatements and verbal gaffes made by Barack Obama (I didn’t have enough time to do one for Joe Biden). YouTube links are provided just in case you doubt the accuracy of these all too human slips-of-the-tongue. If you can’t remember hearing about them, that’s because for the most part the media didn’t consider them newsworthy. I have no complaint about that. Everybody makes the occasional verbal gaffe – even news anchors.

Obviously, I would have been even more impressed if the media showed some consistency on this issue. Unfortunately, it seems they couldn’t resist the temptation to turn a simple one word slip-of-the-tongue of mine into a major political headline. The one word slip occurred yesterday during one of my seven back-to-back interviews wherein I was privileged to speak to the American public about the important, world-changing issues before us.

If the media had bothered to actually listen to all of my remarks on Glenn Beck’s radio show, they would have noticed that I refer to South Korea as our ally throughout, that I corrected myself seconds after my slip-of-the-tongue, and that I made it abundantly clear that pressure should be put on China to restrict energy exports to the North Korean regime. The media could even have done due diligence and checked my previous statements on the subject, which have always been consistent, and in fact even ahead of the curve. But why let the facts get in the way of a good story? (And for that matter, why not just make up stories out of thin air – like the totally false hard news story which has run for three days now reporting that I lobbied the producers of “Dancing with the Stars” to cast a former Senate candidate on their show. That lie is further clear proof that the media completely makes things up without doing even rudimentary fact-checking.)

“Hope springs eternal” as the poet says. Let’s hope that perhaps, just maybe, they might get it right next time. When we the people are effective in holding America’s free press accountable for responsible and truthful reporting, then we shall all have even more to be thankful for!

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Here’s what just happened over in North Korea:

TOKYO — Chaos reportedly erupted in North Korea on Tuesday after the government of Kim Jong Il revalued the country’s currency, sharply restricting the amount of old bills that could be traded for new and wiping out personal savings.

The revaluation replaces 1,000 won notes with 10 won notes, but strictly limits the amount of old currency that can be exchanged, news reports said.

100:1.

You had $100,000, you now have $1,000.

You had $100,000,000 (one hundred million), you now have one million.

Oh, and if you tried to cheat by taking it out of the system, only $40 of it is exchangeable – the rest is worth nothing.

Yes, this is North Korea, and Kim Jung-Il isn’t exactly a nice guy.

Now let’s ask the question nobody wants to ask:

See the article: http://market-ticker.org/archives/1685-North-Korea-and-Currency-Devaluations.html

So, what is the response of the Messiah in the Oval Office? Really severe rhetoric, is the answer. The soundbite manufacturers have been burning the midnight oil and the auto-cue is going into meltdown. So is the confidence of Asian leaders. The word is out: the most powerful nation on earth has got itself a pussycat for a president and all the bad guys are queuing up to give him the finger.”

North Korea appears to be giving Barack Obama and the United States the “FINGER” by tesing a nuclear bomb and launching several missiles. The rhetoric from Washington DC and from the United States is that we are issuing “stern warnings” and we are “strongly objecting” to North Korea’s actions”. And of course, “there will be serious consequences”.

The leaders in DC, and Obama in particular, are maintaining a low profile on the North Korea.

Is this North Korea action make this Obama’s “Kennedy-Kruschev” moment? Is this Obama’s Biden “Test”? Is Obama handling it correctly?

During the campaign, the advertisements and debates made jokes with the “3:00 AM” phone call to the next President. Now that he has “ascended” to his media-annointed throne in the Oval Office, is Barack Obama really prepared for that 3:00 am phone call?

The answer to that question, and the “testing of his mettle”, as the gaffing Vice President Biden predicted, may be just days away. In fact, they may occur while he is out of the country on his next Muslim tour.

Today, North Korea “tested” a nuclear bomb. Russian intelligence has confirmed that an underground test has occurred in the northern regions of North Korea. Some reports indicate that the powerful test might have encompassed the magnitude of the bomb that was dropped on Hiroshima in 1945. In addition to the North Korean nuclear bomb test, as well as the missile tested by Iran with solid fuels earlier, comes the rantings of the Iranian President Mahmood Ahmadinejad that he is not discussing ANYTHING with the United States, and will discuss “global issues” with powers that are in “cooperative” frameworks.

The hour is near, as Joe Biden said it would be six months. Are we ready for the way that Obama will handle that phone call?

In defiance of sanctions ALREADY in place, North Korea launched a rocket last night in what many are saying was a “product demonstration” for potential nuclear armss customers, such as Iran. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and her co-President Barack Obama both warned that a launch would be “provacative, and ould warrant “dire consequences”.

With China and Russia BOTH vowing to block additional sanctions (which obviously are not working), Obama and Clinton have called upon the United Nations to address this matter. An emergency session will be held later today. What exactly do they expect the United Nations to do? Is this the “test of his mettle” that we will think Obama is handling improperly? So far, everything, from the bailout, the stimulus package, the firing of GM executive, to his contrite posturing on the world stage have all been improperly handled.

This is “supposed” to be the open and transparent way for we, The People, to monitor the spending package that the President signed into law, also known as the Multi-Generational Theft Act. This allows us to monitor the debt that our children’s grandchildren will still be paying, long after they build the Obama Presidential Library complete with the Bill Ayers Terrorist Wing!
