NBCPhiladelphia reports Montgomery County,PA Commissioner Jim Matthews, the brother of “Hardball” host Chris Matthews, has been arrested on charges of perjury. The arrest is a result of an 18-month investigation into campaign contributions and expenses reported by Matthews.
The alleged “lie” is that Matthews denied having any business dealings with “Certified Abstract,” a title company that was to do business with the county.
Matthews, a Republican, lost his reelection bid during the primaries. He is in custody awaiting arraignment.
Chris Matthews Doesn’t Understand Why Some, Including Members of the Tea Party, Think Obama has a “Soft Spot” for Islam

Today on Hardball Chris Matthews was less excited than he has been recently, yet this more subdued tone actually enabled him to conduct a more interesting conversation. With Tea Party guests Phillip Dennis of the Texas Tea Party and Matt Kibbe from FreedomWorks, Matthews explored his fascination with the fact that so many Republicans still believe President Obama is a Muslim.
Although neither Tea Party leader was willing to dismiss the idea that Obama was a follower of Islam, Kibbe quickly said that if Obama says he is Christian then he’ll take him at his word. Dennis on the other hand was unsure, which prompted a lively back and forth with Matthews.
Dennis claimed he didn’t know what Obama’s religion was, but “if he’s a Christian I certainly don’t like the brand of Christianity he went to in Chicago for twenty years with Reverend Wright.” Matthews laughed at how Dennis was “playing the game” and Dennis concluded that it was hard to argue that “President Obama certainly has a soft spot in his heart for Islam.” Matthews responded that “I don’t think [Obama's] anti-Islamic and I wonder why you are?” However, Dennis wasn’t backing down and declared that he thought he had a right to be concerned with Islam, which he thought was anything but a religion of peace.

Why did Chris Matthews stress that the RNC Response to Obama’s Speech was “outsourced” to Gov. Bobby Jindal?

In a span of less than 15 seconds, MSNBC’s Chris Matthews used the term(s) “outside” and “outsourcing” when discussing Gov. Bobby Jindal as the Republican Party choice to give the response to President Barack Obama’s speech before the Joint Session of Congress. Given the number of “sensitive” items that have solicited apologies because of possible racial overtones, was Matthews, who also slipped with the “My God” as Jindal approached the camer in the Louisiana Governor’s mansion, making his own racial comments?
UPDATE:
“Oh, God,” why did he have to use that word? According to MSNBC’s Chris Matthews, the GOP “outsourced” the Republican response to a young, successful Indian-American governor who “had nothing to do with Congress.”
They had to outsource the response tonight, the Republican party. They had to outsource to someone who had nothing to do with Congress because the Republicans in Congress had nothing to do with the programs he was talking about tonight or the record he referred to.
First of all, one might point out that Piyush “Bobby” Jindal was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from 2004 to 2006. Furthermore, Republican governors are quite important members of the party. The idea that the GOP was bringing in an outsider is flat out wrong.

Chris Matthews and MSNBC actually question Obama motives in the Economic Stimulus Package

The tingling in Chris Matthews’ leg may already be subsiding.
In an on-air discussion with MSNBC stock guru Jack Cramer, Chris Matthews voiced his discontent with the pork that has made up President Barack Obama’s economic stimulus package. The main thing missing from the package is the infrastructure spending that was promised in the General election and during the transition period. To highlight their point and question about “where’s the infrastructure spending”, the Obama package has $22 million dollars for the infrastructure, and the “big dig” in Boston cost $15 million dollars alone, and only created 5000 jobs.
Both men agree that the proposal that Obama has presented is more a government entitlement program instead of a stimulus program. It must have truly hurt Chris Matthews to say that the Republicans are right!
