Teacher Compares Romney T-Shirt to KKK Garb; Claims School is a “Democrat School”

A Philadelphia high school teacher is under investigation after she reportedly ordered a student to take off a t-shirt supporting Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign and compared the shirt to a Ku Klux Klan sheet.

The incident occurred at Charles Carroll High School in Port Richmond. When the student refused the order, she tried to throw the girl out of class.

The teacher reportedly told the 16-year-old student that the high school was a “Democratic school” and then threatened to use a marker to cross out Romney’s name.

Philadelphia School District spokesman Fernando Gallard confirmed to Philly.com that, “a teacher made some comments to a student wearing a Romney t-shirt in their classroom.”

“The comments were of a political nature, and also of a personal nature,” he told the newspaper. “We are looking into the comments, and the conduct of the teacher.”

Gallard said the student was well within her rights to wear the t-shirt and was not in violation of any school dress codes.

“Swatting”, “GoogleBombing”, and More: A Blogger’s Attempt @ Silencing Free Speech by Abusing Free Speech

At about this time four years ago, in the heat of the Democratic primaries, many of us saw how the Obama campaign utilized the “Alinsky” tactics to combat the story of one Larry Sinclair, who was alleging to have had a sexual encounter with Barack Obama, which also included some drug use. The power of the internet, through the bloggers, was unleashed on Mr. Sinclair with the full force of what one would an empire protecting its leader. There was no concern whatsoever for the legitimacy of the cyberattacks on Mr. Sinclair or anyone in his life. A weaker person would have folded under the intense online pressure that was targeted at Mr. Sinclair. (But the details will make interesting reading when Mr. Sinclair publishes his next book)

Fast forward, and we now see how the Obama campaign is employing the same tactics against the big donors of his opponent, Mitt Romney. They are digging for any tidbit of information to publicly humiliate these private citizens, and have now employed the media, including Politico.com, to be their accomplices.

But even more troublesome is the use of the blogosphere to terrorize individuals, to ruin their lives, for no apparent reason other than a differing opinion.

Here is the story of a Deputy District Attorney in LA who has been the target of ONE BLOGGER, and how the internet has been used to sabotage his entire life:

In the last radio interview Andrew Breitbart ever gave, on Hugh Hewitt’s radio show, Breitbart talked about a new ruthless tactic used by thugs against political opponents:

[O]ne of the things they’ve done to people who have worked with me in the past, including an L.A. prosecutor, is to “SWAT.” That means that they’re spoofing phones, pretending to be somebody else’s phone, calling 911, and saying “I killed somebody” and then the person’s home is met with the guns drawn, the SWAT and the helicopters, in a horrifying act. It’s happened twice: once in New Jersey, once in Los Angeles, with an L.A. County . . . prosecutor who [is] associated with me.”

I am that L.A. County prosecutor. And in this post, you’ll hear the hoax call that sent police to my house, pointing loaded guns at me.

THE NIGHT I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED BECAUSE OF MY BLOGGING

At 12:35 a.m. on July 1, 2011, sheriff’s deputies pounded on my front door and rang my doorbell. They shouted for me to open the door and come out with my hands up.

When I opened the door, deputies pointed guns at me and ordered me to put my hands in the air. I had a cell phone in my hand. Fortunately, they did not mistake it for a gun.

They ordered me to turn around and put my hands behind my back. They handcuffed me. They shouted questions at me: IS THERE ANYONE ELSE IN THE HOUSE? and WHERE ARE THEY? and ARE THEY ALIVE?

I told them: Yes, my wife and my children are in the house. They’re upstairs in their bedrooms, sleeping. Of course they’re alive.

Deputies led me down the street to a patrol car parked about 2-3 houses away. At least one neighbor was watching out of her window as I was placed, handcuffed, in the back of the patrol car. I saw numerous patrol cars on my quiet street. There was a police helicopter flying overhead, shining a spotlight down on us as I walked towards the patrol car. Several neighbors later told us the helicopter woke them up. I saw a fire engine and an ambulance. A neighbor later told me they had a HazMat vehicle out on the street as well.

Meanwhile, police rushed into my home. They woke up my wife, led her downstairs and to the front porch, frisked her, and asked her where the children were. Then police ordered her to stand on the front porch with her hands against the wall while they entered my children’s bedrooms to make sure they were alive.

The call that sent deputies to my home was a hoax. Someone had pretended to be me. They called the police to say I had shot my wife. The sheriff’s deputies who arrived at my front door believed they were about to confront an armed man who had just shot his wife. I don’t blame the police for any of their actions. But I blame the person who made the call.

Because I could have been killed.

The weirdest part of the whole thing was that I halfway expected this might happen. Because I was not the first one it had happened to.

I think it’s about time you heard the call that sent police to my home.

“In other words, journalists will no longer be allowed to bring their laptops or other equipment to the lockups, they will have to use government-supplied equipment, described by Fillichio as including “a virtualized desktop running a Windows operation system, a web browser, word-processing software, an Adobe Reader application and secure file transfer capability. Equipment provided will not have wireless networking capability. Provisions will be in place for news organizations to transmit their stories over the Internet.”

College Newspaper Essay Prompts Debate on Immigration, Freedom of Speech and Press

WINTER PARK — Jamie Pizzi, a freshman at Rollins College, said she never meant to come across as racist or hateful in the opinion piece she wrote for the campus newspaper last week.

But the essay that’s sharply critical of immigrant children has spurred an outcry from some students and faculty.

And while she’s upset by all the negative attention — including nasty e-mails and comments left on The Sandspur website — she said she stands by her writing.

“I don’t regret what I wrote,” Pizzi said. “I regret it was taken that way.”

Pizzi’s essay questions whether babies born in the United States to illegal immigrants should be automatically given U.S. citizenship. It’s accompanied by a picture of a green alien that has apparently taken a guy’s clothing and TV.

“These ‘anchor babies,’ as they are commonly referred, gain full citizenship from simply being born on American soil, and they are entitled to all the same benefits as you and I, including: free public school educations, financial aid for college and even Medicaid,” she writes.

The strong reaction from faculty, students and others prompted a big gathering Thursday afternoon in the Bush Science Center auditorium. An estimated 200 to 300 people turned out — a significant crowd for the small private college in Winter Park, organizers said.

Everyone took turns expressing themselves and sharing their views on free press and the role of a school newspaper.

Freedom of Speech Is Meant to Protect Both Sides of an Viewpoint

      The US Supreme Court has ruled that the vile cretins of the Westboro Baptist Church are constitutionally within their rights to conduct their vile protests at the funerals of our fallen heroes. (God bless the groups that converge at these funerals to protect the families from this added heartache at their time of great loss).

       Thus it follows that the courts in Illinois have ruled in favor of a student who had her “anti-gay” shirt blacked out by school officials:

CHICAGO • An appeals court has upheld the rights of suburban Chicago students to wear T-shirts with the words “Be Happy, Not Gay.”

The 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals’ ruling Tuesday involves a dispute at Neuqua Valley High School. A teen sued in 2006 after school officials blacked out the words “Not Gay” on her T-shirt. The incident happened the day after a “Day of Silence,” which was held to draw attention to the harassment of gay students.

The court says a school that “permits advocacy of the rights of homosexual students cannot be allowed to stifle criticism of homosexuality.”

The decision says the school was wrong unless it could prove the shirt would cause a “substantial disruption.”

The president of the district’s board declined to comment on the ruling.

“Rep. Robert Brady (D-Pa.) reportedly plans to introduce legislation that would make it a federal crime to use language or symbols that could be perceived as threatening or inciting violence against a federal official or member of Congress.”

Reflect on the Policies, Not the Rhetoric

     Keith Olbermann’s latest rant calls for apologies from “Mrs.” Palin, Glenn Beck, and Bill O’Reilly for their violent vitriolic rhetoric. Ironically, he doesn’t mention Barack Obama’s own words saying about bringing bats, bringing guns. Eugene Robinson in Washington says the violence rhetoric is ALL on the “Right”. Gov. Palin has been trashed (mentioned over 6000 times in a 12 hour period yesterday in print and on the air) for her “cross hairs” list of candidates targeted in the last election, with  no mention of similar advertisements used in 2006 against Arizona’s former Congressman JD Hayworth during a campaign.

      What must come from this tragedy in Tucson, AZ is several things:

                   Our elected officials must not cower in fear, and separate themselves even further from the people that they “REPRESENT”.

                   Our leaders MUST NOT USE this tragedy to “brow beat” those who dissent with their viewpoint, nor should they use this “crisis” to push any unwanted agenda, i.e.- the rhetoric on the talk shows today has used the issue of immigration more than any other.

                   The Congressional majority has respectfully postponed all legislative actions during the coming week, but they should not deter from their resolve to move forward with the repeal of the job-killing law known as ObamaCare.

                    We should not permit this crisis to be used as a bully-pulpit to try to silence the voices ON EITHER SIDE in the open forums of radio, internet, and television. With the Rev. Al Sharpton already seeking the FCC to challenge Rush Limbaugh’s talk show, we are treading dangerously close to completely overpowering our Freedom of Speech, simply because the American majority, the conservative viewpoint, has a stronger input in the marketplace. (Remember, liberal talk radio could not sustain itself with government subsidies).

                  The focus on the 24/7 coverage has pointed at the vitriolic and incendiary rhetoric, and yet, the likes of MSNBC or CNN have failed to mention any of the rhetoric from the likes of Frances Fox Piven and Van Jones when discussing this issue.

                 The focus should be on the POLICIES that have been pushed forward, against the WILL OF WE THE PEOPLE, and why they are bringing forth such opposition to the agenda of the progressive Left.

        As I posted earlier this week, we are in a New Revolution, but it is not, nor should it be, one of violence. Nor should it be one that tries to silence the opinions of the public. This New Revolution is for each of us to accept our personal responsibilities, first for ourselves, then our family, and so forth. It is for our return to the moral foundation that made this a Great Nation. If we fail at this New Revolution, one need only look to the Roman Empire, whose decline coincided with its moral decline. America is an EXCEPTIONAL NATION (Note to Obama) and we MUST correct our course now.

           If the tragedy in Tucson is to be used for anything, let it be used to remind us that our time on Earth is short, and we should each resolve to leave our imprint in a positive manner, to move forward and not to cower.

This is hardly a surprise but, this morning (as previously announced), the lame duck Senate Judiciary Committee unanimously voted to move forward with censoring the internet via the COICA bill — despite a bunch of law professors explaining to them how this law is a clear violation of the First Amendment. What’s really amazing is that many of the same Senators have been speaking out against internet censorship in other countries, yet they happily vote to approve it here because it’s seen as a way to make many of their largest campaign contributors happy. There’s very little chance that the bill will actually get passed by the end of the term but, in the meantime, we figured it might be useful to highlight the 19 Senators who voted to censor the internet this morning:

• This should be a list of shame. You would think that our own elected officials would understand the First Amendment but, apparently, they have no problem turning the US into one of the small list of authoritarian countries that censors internet content it does not like (in this case, content some of its largest campaign contributors do not like). We already have laws in place to deal with infringing content, so don’t buy the excuse that this law is about stopping infringement. This law takes down entire websites based on the government’s say-so. First Amendment protections make clear that if you are going to stop any specific speech, it has to be extremely specific speech. This law has no such restrictions. It’s really quite unfortunate that these 19 US Senators are the first American politicians to publicly vote in favor of censoring speech in America.
