from Forbes:
“I am writing with some words of caution. I used to say that “if
you’re not on Facebook, it’s possible you don’t actually exist.” I think
it’s time to update that, courtesy of Slashdot: Facebook
abstainers will be labeled suspicious.”
Let me be clear, from the very start, I thought the idea of Facebook was a “Very Bad Idea”, and I do not have one. Of course, I keep gettingtold that I should put this blog to a Facebook link, but I am still resisting.
…… OK, Patdown…………….
Sen. Rand Paul told his communications director this morning he was being detained by TSA at the Nashville airport.
The Twitter account associated with Paul staffer Moira Bagley, @moirabagley, tweeted around 10 a.m., ET, “Just got a call from @senrandpaul. He’s currently being detained by TSA in Nashville.”
A TSA spokesman disputed that Paul was ever “detained.” But he was not granted access to the secure area of the airport when he tried to board a flight Monday morning.
The standoff was short-lived. By late morning, according to TSA, Paul had been booked on another flight and made it through the screening process.

Note: The Senator has since said that the TSA Agent “warned” him that if he attempted to “use his cellphone” they would give him the aforementioned patdown!
In the midst of tweeting about a hockey game and an appearance on the Rachel Maddow Show, NY Congressman Anthony Weiner “allegedly” tweeted an picture of himself in his “briefs”.
Throughout the weekend, “Weinergate” has continued to evolve, given that the “tweet” was meant as a private message for a 21-year old Seattle college student, who, according to her Facebook and Twitter, before she scrubbed it, was enamored with the Congressman (can we say “low self-esteem). While Weiner’s office says that his accounts were hacked, Weiner’s usage suggests differently. Furthermore, the Congressman’s office has not allegedly made reports to the FBI to have the matter pursued, despite tighter enforcement of attacks on politicians computer accounts.
In today’s segment of the saga, it appears that the Congressman tweets with a porn star and a teenager (yes…. allegedly). And all from his official @RepAnthonyWeiner twitter account. The picture(s) in question link to a “yFrog” account, which is also one of the Congressman’s accounts.
( One commenter notes that the picture actually looks like some middle-schooler…… which goes along with the Congressman’s persona , wouldn’t you say!)
Did we forget to mention that the Congressman has not yet celebrated his first wedding anniversary (July 10th). His wife, Huma Abedin, works for Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and Bill Clinton officiated at their wedding.

EXCLUSIVE: You can’t make this stuff up, kids. Following their successful partnership with Levi Johnston, Playgirl magazine informs me they’ve set their sights on another young man with a Republican media star in his life: Lucas Bachmann, son of possible presidential candidate Rep. Michele Bachmann.

“I’m reaching out to Lucas because when I researched him I was struck by how absolutely adorable he is,” Playgirl spokesman Daniel Nardicio tells me. “Plus, I think his political ties make him even sexier. We’ve made initial contact, so let’s see how it goes from there.”
But the skin mag will have to move on to another politician’s son (Mitt Romney has five to choose from!) because Bachmann, 28, has officially quashed the idea.
Reached for comment (over Facebook), Lucas confirmed to PopEater that Playgirl reached out and that he wasn’t the least bit interested. For starters, the politician’s son is currently a resident in psychiatry at the University of Connecticut.
“As you can certainly understand,” Lucas wrote back to Daniel. “One must have a certain degree of anonymity when treating patients in the mental health community.”

This was forwarded to my email today, obviously written by someone who is “technically challenged”:
That was before one of my grandkids hooked me up for Tweeter, Tweetree, Twhirl, Twitterfon, Tweetie and Twittererific Tweetdeck, Twitpix and something that sends every message to my cell phone and every other program within the texting world.
My phone was beeping every three minutes with the details of everything except the bowel movements of the entire next generation. I am not ready to live like this. I keep my cell phone in the garage in my golf bag.
The kids bought me a GPS for my last birthday because they say I get lost every now and then going over to the grocery store or library. I keep that in a box under my tool bench with the Blue tooth [it's red] phone I am supposed to use when I drive. I wore it once and was standing in line at Barnes and Noble talking to my wife and everyone in the nearest 50 yards was glaring at me. I had to take my hearing aid out to use it, and I got a little loud.
I mean the GPS looked pretty smart on my dash board, but the lady inside that gadget was the most annoying, rudest person I had run into in a long time. Every 10 minutes, she would sarcastically say, “Re-calc-u-lating.” You would think that she could be nicer. It was like she could barely tolerate me. She would let go with a deep sigh and then tell me to make a U-turn at the next light. Then if I made a right turn instead. Well, it was not a good relationship.
When I get really lost now, I call my wife and tell her the name of the cross streets and while she is starting to develop the same tone as Gypsy, the GPS lady, at least she loves me.
To be perfectly frank, I am still trying to learn how to use the cordless phones in our house. We have had them for 4 years, but I still haven’t figured out how I can lose three phones all at once and have run around digging under chair cushions and checking bathrooms and the dirty laundry baskets when the phone rings.
The world is just getting too complex for me. They even mess me up every time I go to the grocery store. You would think they could settle on something themselves but this sudden “Paper or Plastic?” every time I check out just knocks me for a loop. I bought some of those cloth reusable bags to avoid looking confused, but I never remember to take them in with me.
Now I toss it back to them. When they ask me, “Paper or Plastic?” I just say, “Doesn’t matter to me. I am bi-sacksual.” Then it’s their turn to stare at me with a blank look. I was recently asked if I tweet. I answered, No, but I do toot a lot.”
P.S. I know some of you are not over 50. I sent it to you to allow you to forward it to those who are.
Us senior citizens don’t need anymore gadgets. The tv remote and the garage door remote are about all we can handle.
Elizabeth Edwards has bravely battled her breast cancer in the public eye, and for more than half the battle, she had endured the pain and anguish caused by her husband’s infidelity, including the tabloidesque antics of his mistress and his surrogates who played the story out in the press for their own benefit.

Elizabeth Edwards with son Jack (10) and daughter Emma Claire (12)
The wife of former Senator John Edwards, once the golden boy of the Democratic Party, was recently hospitalized, but has now returned to her home, to her family. A statement from the family says that doctors have told Mrs. Edwards that any further treatments for her cancer would be “unproductive”. Sources close to the family have said that Elizabeth Edwards has returned to her “to die”, and that she has barely weeks, if not days.
From her personal Facebook page, she has posted what CBSNews has titled as her “Apparent Goodbye Message”:
“The days of our lives, for all of us, are numbered. We know that.”
You all know that I have been sustained throughout my life by three saving graces – my family, my friends, and a faith in the power of resilience and hope,”

Her family has gathered at her side, and it is said that her estranged husband, John Edwards, has joined them. The Edward’s daughter Cate is 28, daughter Emma Claire is 12, and son Jack is 10. (The couple’s elest child, Wade, died in 1996 at the age of 17 in a car accident).
