from GretaWire and RealClear Politics:

I wonder what the thousands and thousands who right now are freezing cold and without power think about Chris Matthews’ comment below.  I know what I think and I have power and heat in my house.  What is wrong with him?  It is one thing to have political enthusiasm and the “thrill going up his leg” (his famous quote)…but this?  ”glad that we had this storm last week?”

“…I’m so glad we had that storm last week because I think the storm was one of those things. No, politically I should say. Not in terms of hurting people. The storm brought in possibilities for good politics….”

from RealClear Politics:

“Well, I think they’re more political than either you or I,” Chris Matthews said about conservatives. “I think they hate Obama. They want him out of the White House more than they want to destroy al-Qaeda. Their number one enemy in the world right now, on the right, is their hatred, hatred for Obama. And we can go into that about the white working class in the south about looking at these numbers we’ve been getting the last couple days, about racial hatred, in many cases. This isn’t about being a better president, they want to get rid of this president. That’s their number one goal and they’re willing to let Romney go to the hard center, even to the left on some issues, as long as they get rid of this guy.”

“Romney went in there tonight with 16 ounce gloves. He didn’t want to look too ferocious, he just wanted to win. And the way he wanted to win was not making himself into the right-winger that the right wing that’s supporting him really are,” Matthews also said.

NBCPhiladelphia reports Montgomery County,PA Commissioner Jim Matthews, the brother of “Hardball” host Chris Matthews, has been arrested on charges of perjury. The arrest is a result of an 18-month investigation into campaign contributions and expenses reported by Matthews.

The alleged “lie” is that Matthews denied having any business dealings with “Certified Abstract,” a title company that was to do business with the county.

Matthews, a Republican, lost his reelection bid during the primaries. He is in custody awaiting arraignment.

For once, something to agree with Chris Matthews about:

One thing that both MSNBC’s Chris Matthews and Donald Trump have done in their “birth certificate” comments about Obama is bring a level of legitimacy to asking the question “Why doesn’t he just release the damn thing,  and put this matter to rest?”

From the Daily Caller:

“Of course I’d release it. In two seconds I’d release it. If I decide to run, I’ll absolutely release it,” Donald Trump said in an interview with The Daily Caller Thursday, referring to his own birth certificate. “I have it right on my desk. I have it right here, right now, right this minute. I am literally looking at it. Because, based on this I said, ‘do me a favor, get me my birth certificate.’ I have my original birth certificate right here.”

Donald Trump has been thinking a lot about birth certificates lately. Indeed, he has made questions about Barack Obama’s birth certificate a pivotal part of his bid for the Republican presidential nomination. And it appears to be working. One recent poll has Trump running fifth in the GOP field, just two points behind former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

“There’s a very clear niche in the Republican primary,” said longtime political consultant Roger Stone. “It’s a brilliant base-building move. There’s a very active, fervent subset of voters interested in this.” Stone, who has worked for Trump in years past, says he has no paid role in Trump’s current campaign, though he does allow that the two continue to “talk politics from time to time.”

Today on Hardball Chris Matthews was less excited than he has been recently, yet this more subdued tone actually enabled him to conduct a more interesting conversation. With Tea Party guests Phillip Dennis of the Texas Tea Party and Matt Kibbe from FreedomWorks, Matthews explored his fascination with the fact that so many Republicans still believe President Obama is a Muslim.

Although neither Tea Party leader was willing to dismiss the idea that Obama was a follower of Islam, Kibbe quickly said that if Obama says he is Christian then he’ll take him at his word. Dennis on the other hand was unsure, which prompted a lively back and forth with Matthews.

Dennis claimed he didn’t know what Obama’s religion was, but “if he’s a Christian I certainly don’t like the brand of Christianity he went to in Chicago for twenty years with Reverend Wright.” Matthews laughed at how Dennis was “playing the game” and Dennis concluded that it was hard to argue that “President Obama certainly has a soft spot in his heart for Islam.” Matthews responded that “I don’t think [Obama's] anti-Islamic and I wonder why you are?” However, Dennis wasn’t backing down and declared that he thought he had a right to be concerned with Islam, which he thought was anything but a religion of peace.

Something tells me that Chris Matthews has truly lost that “loving feeling”… no more “tingle down his leg”:

As Keith Olbermann ended his show tonight, he thanked his staff and crew, and stated that this was his last night, his last show.

MSNBC immediately made a statement that the contract between the two parties was “ended”, and they wished Olbermann luck in his future endeavors. When the Olbermann show was tossed off to the Rachel Maddow Show, Rachel’s guest host went right into the storyline, with no acknowledgement toward Rachel’s mentor whatsoever. (Corrected)

This was obviously NOT a planned departure, and by all apearances, occurred within the past few hours, catching even Ms. Maddow off guard.

Olbermann’s show was simply intolerable, but let’s hope they do not put ED SCHULTZ into that time slot!

On Monday night’s edition of “Hardball,” host Chris Matthews talked about putting the birth certificate controversy surrounding President Obama to rest.

“Why has the president himself not demanded they put out the original documents?” Matthews wonders.

“If it exists, why not put it out?” Chris Matthews asks.
