For three weeks, Miss California Carrie Prejean has endured the viral attacks that are perpetrated in the blogosphere, all in response to her answer to the “same-sex” marriage question she was asked during the Miss USA pageant. The blogosphere attacks, led by her nemesis judge, Perez Hilton, have included photos that were photoshopped, others that were a part of her portfolio, a photo taken during a photo shoot that she never authorized, and the posting of her parent’s bitter divorce papers. (Note: Mom and Dad sat side by side at today’s press conference).
Donald Trump, who owns the Miss USA organization, got the Miss California organization and Carrie Prejean on “the same page” to move forward. He decided that Ms. Prejean will retain her title, and Keith Lewis and Shana Moakler of the Miss California organization have rallied behind Ms. Prejean. Trump has basked in the controversy, as free press for himself and the Miss USA organization.
When Ms. Prejean addressed the press today, voice trembling at several points, she stressed that she values our freedoms of free speech, and thanks those who have fought defending those freedoms. She stressed that she has not been asked to change her opinion, and while she is not promoting herself as an advocate for the opposition to the same-sex marriage movement, she will not silence her views either.
Our politicians could take a lesson from Carrie Prejean: It is acceptable to stand up for your principles, to not compromise your principles.

After attending the White House Correspondent’s Dinner on Saturday, with her husband, prominent attorney John Coales, and the First “Dude” of Alaska, Todd Palin, it seems that the media and the leftist bloggers do not appreciate Mr. and Mrs. Coales’ relationship with the Palins:
So I Am Now a “Handler” for Showing Good Manners at a Social Event ? (and a journalist if I don’t have good manners?) and by the way, how about CNN? Are they funny or what ?!?!!
First, remember I did not start this little spat and have no interest in having a spat. I am merely responding and setting the record straight. Gossip on the internet is viral and I will respond when things are written that are brought to my attention which I think smarmy or even wrong. If I don’t respond, the one sided stuff sits forever on the internet.
I lifted the below from tvnewser.com which lifted it from Politico. On Saturday morning (before the night’s big dinner) I was at a social brunch (like everyone else in the media), and brought a guest like almost everyone in the media did. A Politico reporter came up to our Fox guest Todd Palin with a pad to take notes and interview Todd Palin (it says “started to chat” but that is not what happened or what was going on….no one is that stupid to believe that.) It was an attempt to interview him when he did not agree to it or ask for it — print paparazzi at a brunch /party!

If Greta Van Susterenn or Miss California Carrie Prejean want to know what to expect from these attacks, I think Larry Sinclair could give lessons on dealing with those type of cretins.

The Maine Senate has approved a bill regarding same-sex marriages in Maine. The New Hampshire Legislature has sent a similar bill to the Governor. Vermont and Iowa both recently recognized same-sex marriages. Despite a majority being opposed to same-sex marriages, the New York Governor has once again asked the Legislature to pass legislation recognizing these unions.
Alternately, California, Arizona, and Florida, in the November elections, constitutionally defined marriage as the union of a man and a woman. It is apparent that when the decision regarding this issue is in the hands of the few, such as the Legislatures or a court, the view of the majority is disregarded.
It is the fact that the Legislators are ignoring the majority view that has caused many states to have votes on the marriage definition as a part of their state’s Constitution. This move takes the ultimate decision out of the hands of the “few”, as Florida, Arizona, and California recently showed.
This issue is becoming more important, given the fact that there is a push to have all of the New England states recognizing same-sex marriages by 2012.
As is clearly evidenced by the reaction to Miss California Carrie Prejean’s answer to Perez Hilton’s same-sex marriage question during the Miss USA Pageant, this will be a “hot-issue” button in the next several election cycles. Ms. Prejean, reagrdless of your view on this issue, is to be commended for voicing her convictions rather than the view that the questioner wanted to hear. The National Organization on Marriage is using her pageant controversy in their advertising campaigns.
Just as important as the issue of what defines a marriage is the fact that the voice of the majority is often ignored by our elected officials, as they did with TARP and the economic stimulus package, and it is time that they realize that we will be heard!

While one of the contestants in the Miss America pageant was asked about her childhood nickname as her “Question”, Perez Hilton put his agenda front and center, and asked Miss California her views on same-sex marriage. Carrie Prejean, 21, believes that her answer cost her the Miss America crown, as she came in as the runner-up. But Hilton’s aftermath has been even more troubling, with his videoblog calling her names, etc.
Ms. Prejean stands by her answer, that for her, and her family, marriage is between a man and a woman. Her answer was said in a manner that should not have offended anyone, in that she clearly stated that this is her beliefs.
Today, she has an unlikely ally coming to her defense: Sir Elton John !
