NPR website can’t take the heat…

The NPR website is no longer taking comments today. They blame it on user volume.
Really? They’re taxpayer funded but can’t keep a website running?

The Ombudsman also tweeted that she is working on a Juan Williams’ column.

If I was Rubio I’d go just to spite CAIR…

WASHINGTON, July 20 — The Council on American- Islamic Relations (CAIR) today called on Florida GOP U.S. Senate candidate Marco Rubio not to accept an invitation to take part in an August 21 Tea Party rally featuring an extremist anti-Islam keynote speaker who has stated that Muslims should not be allowed to hold public office, that an American Muslim “cannot be a loyal citizen” and that Islam is the “real enemy.”

Emerald Coast Tea Party Patriots invited Brigitte Gabriel, the head of the anti-Islam hate group ACT! for America, to be the keynote speaker at its “U.S. Constitution Freedom Rally” on August 21 in Fort Walton Beach, Fla. Rubio is listed on a rally flyer as “invited waiting for confirmation.”

GO, MICHIGAN STATE!

Very interesting — the University is standing by their professor and not bowing down to special interest groups!

The story begins at Michigan State University with a mechanical engineering professor named Indred Wichman.

Wichman sent an e-mail to the Muslim Student’s Association.

The e-mail was in response to the students’ protest of the Danish cartoons that portrayed the Prophet Muhammad as a terrorist.

The group had complained the cartoons were ‘hate speech.’

Enter Professor Wichman.

In his e-mail, he said the following:

Dear Muslim Association,

As a professor of Mechanical Engineering here at MSU I intend to protest your protest.

I am offended not by cartoons, but by more mundane things like beheadings of civilians, cowardly attacks on public buildings, suicide murders, murders of Catholic priests (the latest in Turkey), burnings of Christian churches, the continued persecution of Coptic Christians in Egypt, the imposition of Sharia law on non-Muslims, the rapes of Scandinavian girls and women (called ‘whores’ in your culture), the murder of film directors in Holland, and the rioting and looting in Paris France.

This is what offends me, a soft-spoken person and academic, and many, many of my colleagues. I counsel you dissatisfied, aggressive, brutal, and uncivilized slave-trading Muslims to be very aware of this as you proceed with your infantile ‘protests.’

If you do not like the values of the West – see the First Amendment – you are free to leave. I hope for God’s sake that most of you choose that option.

Please return to your ancestral homelands and build them up yourselves instead of troubling Americans. Cordially,

I. S. Wichman

Professor of Mechanical Engineering

As you can imagine, the Muslim group at the university didn’t like this too well.

They’re demanding that Wichman be reprimanded, that the university impose mandatory diversity training for faculty, and mandate a seminar on hate and discrimination for all freshmen.

Now, the local chapter of CAIR has jumped into the fray. CAIR, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, apparently doesn’t believe that the good professor had the right to express his opinion.

For its part, the university is standing its ground in support of Professor Wichman, saying the e-mail was private, and they don’t intend to publicly condemn his remarks.

Madeline Murray O’hare got prayer taken out of our schools, but CAIR is insisting that schools accomodate Muslim children with “religious protections” of prayer time and a PRAYER ROOM:

Muslim advocacy group files complaint with Lewiston School Department

LEWISTON — A national Muslim civil rights organization has filed a formal request with the Lewiston School Department to allow a middle school student to pray on school property. The group also wants Lewiston to modify existing policy and provide “constitutionally protected religious accommodation,” such as a designated prayer room.

The group has also requested the school department institute diversity training for school staff, and to ensure the middle-schooler won’t face retaliation because of her request to pray at the Lewiston Middle School.

According to the Washington, D.C.,-based Council on American-Islamic Relations, seventh-grader Nasra Aden had been routinely “praying discreetly during her free time or lunch break in a corner of a school hallway.” But, on Tuesday, CAIR asserts a teacher told Aden “never to pray on school property” after Aden was seen preparing to kneel in prayer in a corner of one of the hallways.

After Aden told her mother, Jamad Warsame, what happened, Warsame spoke with school Principal Maureen Lachappelle and asked the school to accommodate her daughter’s desire to pray. According to CAIR, Warsame’s request was rebuffed and she has been “forced to pick up her daughter every day and take her to a nearby park to pray.”

Right-wing politician Geert Wilders finally arrived in Britain yesterday to be greeted by angry protests from radical Muslims.

The Dutch MP overturned a Government ban to arrive for a brief visit guarded by a heavy police presence.

He had been barred in February amid fears he would incite violence by showing his controversial film linking the Koran to terrorism.

NOTE: Hotels in Florida and Tennessee were threatened by CAIR and other Muslim organizations if they allowed Gaeert Wilder to speak at functions.

“Rep. Sue Myrick, R-N.C., founder of the anti-terrorism caucus, says “Muslim Mafia, Inside the Secret Underworld That’s Conspiring to Islamize America,” a publication of WND Books to hit the shelves tomorrow, ties the allegations to an internal memo by CAIR, the Council on American-Islamic Relations.”

from Townhall.com:

Members of the Muslim Student Association (MSA) at Michigan State University (MSU) didn’t know what they were getting into when they tried to suppress the free speech rights of Professor Indrek Wichman. On February 28, 2006 he read in the MSU student newspaper a call to protest the publication of the Muhammad cartoons. The article struck a raw nerve. He responded with the following:

Dear Moslem Association: As a professor of Mechanical Engineering here at MSU I intend to protest your protest. I am offended not by cartoons, but by more mundane things like beheadings of civilians, cowardly attacks on public buildings, suicide murders, murders of Catholic priests (the latest in Turkey!), burnings of Christian churches, the continued persecution of Coptic Christians in Egypt, the imposition of Sharia law on non-Muslims, the rapes of Scandinavian girls and women (called “whores” in your culture), the murder of film directors in Holland, and the rioting and looting in Paris France.
