NYC Mayor Bloomberg says that religious leaders have no place in the ceremonies commemorating the 9/11 attacks. After all, its not like the terrorists who committed this heinous act were doing it under the guise of their religion!

He also does not have room for many of the First Responders. After all, they only risked all on that beautiful Tuesday morning, and lost much on that day. Many are suffering today the perils that they faced that day.

Now, just days before the 10th anniversary of 9/11, Bloomberg says we must get past the tagged name for the site where the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center– Ground Zero.

     From Reuters:

(Reuters) – People should stop calling the site of the September 11 attacks “Ground Zero,” New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg said on Tuesday, urging Americans to move past a term long linked with the World Trade Center’s twin towers destruction.

“We will never forget the devastation of the area that came to be known as ground zero. Never. But the time has come to call those 16 acres what they are: The World Trade Center and the National September 11 Memorial and Museum,” Bloomberg said in a speech on the rebuilding of lower Manhattan.

Ground Zero originated as a term to describe the site of a nuclear explosion and later was used to refer to the point of any dramatic or violent event.

In a just over a week, President George W. Bush will be relaxing with our First Lady Laura Bush in Texas. Today, he took one last opportunity to meet with the press, those who have completely bashed him, and discuss his Presidency, his legacy, and his plans. This followed the historic interview by Brit Hume on FOXNews of the father son Presidents, Bush 41 and Bush 43 !!

As he answered questions for the press, the President’s tone and answers showed the nostalgia he was feeling as his administration draws to an end. He believes one of his greatest accomplishments is in our safety since the 9/11 attacks, his regrets for the “Mission Accomplished” banner on the aircraft carrier after the fall of Saddam Hussein. President Bush also gave subtle messages to his successor about our freedoms, the detainees at Guantanomo, and others.

When all is said and done, and the history books begin to document this era, the legacy that George W. Bush will have left behind will show that he truly was a strong leader. The pundits tonight went on to say that he will truly be vindicated if we begin to see our economy begin its rebound during the first 2 or 3 quarters of 2009 based on the bailouts, etc.

As we watch the orderly transition over the next week, despite the unresolved eligibility questions of the President Elect, we should remember to pay tribute and honor our outgoing Commander in Chief!!
