From today’s arguments before the Court:

Kennedy said the Defense of Marriage Act appears to intrude on the power of states that have chosen to recognize same-sex marriages. When so many federal statutes are affected, “which in our society means that the federal government is intertwined with the citizens’ day-to-day life, you are at real risk of running in conflict with what has always been thought to be the essence of the state police power, which is to regulate marriage, divorce, custody,” Kennedy said.

If the court does strike down part of DOMA, it would represent a victory for gay rights advocates. But it would be something short of the endorsement of gay marriage nationwide that some envisioned when the justices agreed in December to hear the federal case and the challenge to California’s ban on same-sex marriage.

The commentary from the Justices today is different than yesterday’s when discussing Prop 8. From my perspective, gay couples should receive the federal benefits afforded to married couples if they are in a documented committed relationship, i.e., civil unions.

In Murphy v. Ramsey (1885) SCOTUS defined marriage as “the union of one man and one woman…” 3/27/2013 | Laissez-Faire Capitalist

In Murphy v. Ramsey, SCOTUS defined marriage as “The union for life of one man and one woman in the holy estate of matrimony.”

In Maynard v. Hill, SCOTUS spoke of marriage as being between one man and one woman.

Remember, liberals, Stari Decisis….right? Chuck E. Cheese Schumer seems to like to invoke those words whenever it suits him.

Marriage should be redefined, and those that are against redefining it are bigots? Then why are liberals bigotted against consenting ADULT Polygamists? Marriage is about love and equality? Then why don’t liberals love consenting adult polygamists/polygamy and desire equality for them, too? We’re talking about adults here.

Why do liberals act as if they only want to redefine something so far and no further — but it never seems to end up that way?????

Liberals are NEVER done when it comes to changing/redefining things…..

Hundreds of thousands of people have taken part in a final protest in Paris against a bill to legalise same-sex marriage and adoption.

There were scuffles and police fired tear gas as the protest spilled over onto the Champs Elysees, the avenue which runs past the president’s palace.

Interior Minister Manuel Valls said there had been dozens of arrests.

France’s Senate is due to debate the bill next month after it was passed by the lower house of parliament.

President Francois Hollande’s Socialist Party and its allies dominate both houses.

Opinion polls suggest a majority of French people still support gay marriage but their numbers have fallen in recent weeks.

From the mouth’s of the youth often comes Truth:

“I think this is very common, this isn’t out of the ordinary, it happens both ways,” said Jake Carnes, who is in the class where the assignment was given.

“The mistake made (by the teacher),” said Carnes, “was the line crossed between comparing our president to someone like Stalin, even though we are most definitely progressing toward a socialist union.”

This was in response to an assignment to compare hos Stalin changed Russia from a capitalist society to how President Obama is changing our capitalistic society to one of socialism.

In the first CPAC conference since the 2012 Presidential election, Kentucky’s junior Senator, Rand Paul, took the honors as the winner of the annual straw poll. On the heels of his epic filibuster, Rand Paul addressed the group earlier in the week. Sen. Marco Rubio, like Paul, is being touted as a potential candidate for POTUS in 2016, took second in the straw poll.

Sen. Paul is showing a “principled” approach, as evidenced by his filibuster. Perhaps it is time for principle over party politics.

From Townhall.com:

A company named Blueseed is a year away from offering entrepreneurs an inexpensive place, near Silicon Valley, in which to develop their products.

“Blueseed will station a ship 12 nautical miles from the coast of San Francisco, in international waters. The location will allow startup entrepreneurs from anywhere in the world to start or grow their company near Silicon Valley, without the need for a U.S. work visa. The ship will be converted into a coworking and co-living space, and will have high-speed Internet access and daily transportation to the mainland via ferry boat. So far, over 1000 entrepreneurs from 60+ countries expressed interest in living on the ship.”

Here is a sampling of images from their page of Concept Vessels.

“I don’t know why any individual should have a right to have a revolver in his house,” Nixon said in a taped conversation with aides. “The kids usually kill themselves with it and so forth.” He asked why “can’t we go after handguns, period?”

from Brietbart:

Recently uncovered government documents reveal that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) unmanned Predator B drone fleet has been custom designed to identify civilians carrying guns and track cell phone signals.

“I am very concerned that this technology will be used against law-abiding American firearms owners,” said founder and executive vice president of the Second Amendment Foundation, Alan Gottlieb. “This could violate Fourth Amendment rights as well as Second Amendment rights.”

The Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC) obtained a partially redacted copy of Homeland Security’s drone requirements through a Freedom of Information Act request; CNET uncovered an unredacted copy.

Homeland Security design requirements specify that its Predator B drones “shall be capable of identifying a standing human being at night as likely armed or not” and must be equipped with “interception” systems capable of reading cell phone signals.

The first known domestic use of a drone to arrest a U.S. citizen occurred last year in the small town of Lakota, North Dakota when rancher Rodney Brossart was arrested for refusing to return six of his neighbor’s cows that had wandered on to his property. Critics say the fact that domestic drones are being used in such minor matters raises serious concerns about civil liberties and government overreach.

ANGER MANAGEMENT COURSE TO BUY AMMO… REALLY!!

A Florida legislator wants anyone trying to buy ammunition to complete an  anger management program first, in what critics say is the latest example of  local lawmakers reaching for constitutionally-dubious solutions to the problem  of gun violence.

The bill filed Saturday by state Sen. Audrey Gibson, D-Jacksonville, would  require a three-day waiting period for the sale of any firearm and the sale of  ammunition to anyone who has not completed anger management courses. The  proposal would require ammo buyers to take the anger management courses every 10  years.

“This is not about guns,” Gibson said. “This is about ammunition and not only  for the safety of the general community, but also for the safety of law  enforcement.”

Gibson said she’s concerned with citizens stockpiling ammunition, potentially  creating dangerous situations should those individuals ever come in contact with  law enforcement agencies or criminals.

“It’s about getting people to think, really, about how much ammunition they  need,” Gibson said. “It’s a step, I think, in a safer direction. It’s about  getting people to think before they buy.”
