This is the full version of the remarks of Dr. Ben Carson @ the National Prayer Breakfast last week. I am sure that a body language expert can have a field day examining President Obama’s reaction throughout the speech.

The Narcissist-in-Chief has whined this weekend that Dr. Carson’s speech received more coverage than the President’s actual appearance at the event. Give me a break!

There’s a raft of implementation issues as states try to figure out whether they want to set up their own exchanges or go along with federal ones. Here’s something that only makes 2014, the year Obamacare fully comes online, even more dread-worthy: The estimated cost of subsidizing plans through Obamacare’s exchanges has grown from $3,970 in 2010 to $5,510. Here’s John Merline of Investors Business:

The CBO’s new baseline estimate shows that ObamaCare subsidies offered through the insurance exchanges — which are supposed to be up and running by next January — will total more than $1 trillion through 2022, up from $814 billion over those same years in its budget forecast made a year ago.

That’s an increase of nearly 29%…

Just food for thought……………

LONDON (AP) — British soldiers in Afghanistan have been issued with surveillance drones so small they can fit in the palm of a man’s hand.

The Scandinavian-designed Black Hornet Nano weighs as little as 16 grams (roughly half an ounce) — the same as a finch. The 4-inch (10-centimeter) -long helicopter is fitted with a tiny camera which relays still images and video to a remote terminal.

“We used it to look for insurgent firing points and check out exposed areas of the ground before crossing, which is a real asset,” said Sgt. Christopher Petherbridge, with Britain’s Brigade Reconnaissance Force. In a statement, he called the Hornet easy to operate and said it offered “amazing capability to the guys on the ground.”

The military said Sunday that the toy-like Hornet is capable of flying even in windy conditions.

It said the Hornet was developed by Norway’s Prox Dynamics AS as part of a 20 million-pound ($31 million) contract for 160 units with southern England’s Marlborough Communications Ltd.

Drones of all shapes and sizes have rapidly become a mainstay of U.S., British and other nations’ military operations around the world. Late last year the U.K. said it was doubling the size of its armed drone fleet in Afghanistan to 10 with the purchase of a new batch of Reapers.

French leaders, once poised to pass a same-sex marriage bill, are meeting opposition to their efforts.

An estimated 350,000 proponents of marriage rallied near the Eiffel Tower last Sunday, urging the government to retain marriage as the union of one man and one woman. The protest was one of France’s largest in decades, according to news outlets.

A multi-faith coalition including Christians, Jews, and Muslims are protesting the move to redefine marriage.

The effort is a troubling move for the country, which is facing its own deteriorating marriage culture. Redefining marriage would intensify the confusion plaguing France over the purpose and public nature of marriage.

The rallying cries in France, much like in America, are turning the discussion to the needs of children, not just the desires of adults.

Government recognizes marriage because it is an institution that is fundamental to society’s stability. Government—whether French or American—should not obscure the truth about marriage by accepting a revisionist view of marriage, which sees marriage as primarily about emotional bonds or legal privileges. In redefining marriage to include same-sex relationships, government would weaken marital norms, which would further delink childbearing from marriage and hurt spouses and children—especially the most vulnerable. It would deny a mother or father to a child as a matter of policy. Citizens would also lose more of their freedom of religion and conscience.

Sadly, reports indicate that the French government is ignoring the people’s voice

According to a background briefer provided by the White House, President Barack Obama is asking doctors to help deal with guns. Here’s the relevant passage:

PRESERVE THE RIGHTS OF HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS TO PROTECT THEIR PATIENTS AND COMMUNITIES FROM GUN VIOLENCE: We should never ask doctors and other health care providers to turn a blind eye to the risks posed by guns in the wrong hands.

Clarify that no federal law prevents health care providers from warning law enforcement authorities about threats of violence: Doctors and other mental health professionals play an important role in protecting the safety of their patients and the broader community by reporting direct and credible threats of violence to the authorities. But there is public confusion about whether federal law prohibits such reports about threats of violence. The Department of Health and Human Services is issuing a letter to health care providers clarifying that no federal law prohibits these reports in any way.

Protect the rights of health care providers to talk to their patients about gun safety: Doctors and other health care providers also need to be able to ask about firearms in their patients’ homes and safe storage of those firearms, especially if their patients show signs of certain mental illnesses or if they have a young child or mentally ill family member at home. Some have incorrectly claimed that language in the Affordable Care Act prohibits doctors from asking their patients about guns and gun safety. Medical groups also continue to fight against state laws attempting to ban doctors from asking these questions. The Administration will issue guidance clarifying that the Affordable Care Act does not prohibit or otherwise regulate communication between doctors and patients, including about firearms.

obama debt ceiling

Today, Barack Obama laid out his vision of gun control, with the families of the Sandy Hook tragedy and several children as his props. So how ironic the following was in my email INBOX:

““The state must declare the child to be the most precious treasure of
the people. As long as the government is perceived as working for the benefit of
the children, the people will happily endure almost any curtailment of liberty
and almost any deprivation.””

What a great thought. We will give up our liberties for our children. Perhaps then, it is disturbing the origin of this quote:

–Mein Kampf, by Adolf Hitler [Publ. Houghton Miflin, 1943, Page 403]
