ROMNEY NARROWS VP CHOICES; CONDI EMERGES AS FRONTRUNNER Thu Jul 12 2012 19:30:01 ET
**Exclusive**
Late Thursday evening, Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign launched a new fundraising drive, ‘Meet The VP’ — just as Romney himself has narrowed the field of candidates to a handful, sources reveal.
And a surprise name is now near the top of the list: Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice!
The timing of the announcement is now set for ‘coming weeks’.

It was Condi who received two standing ovations at Romney’s Utah retreat a few weeks ago, and everyone left with her name on their lips.
Rice made an extended argument for American leadership in the world.

In recent days, she emailed supporters:
“2012 is perhaps a turning point for the United States.”
“The upcoming elections loom as one of the most important in my lifetime,” she warned. “I’m very often asked to speak about our current foreign policy and the challenges that lie before us. However, we, as a country, are not going to be able to address any of those international challenges unless we first get our domestic house in order.”

Would this change the game? Would the polls move any, since most recent polls show Romney and Obama in an almost virtual tie?

I don’t think this is likely based on her previous comments.

I believe it to be diversionary myself. Like you said in your prior comment, her “moderate pro-choice” stance will likely not work in her favor.
Richard Nixon told George HW Bush to make his choice, or at least the top 2, and then create the diversionary buzz!!

Hey All,
I’m tired of all of the recycling of previous adminstrations.
Isn’t there someone NEW, with FRESH ideas like returning to our Constitution as the basis of our being?
But then again, our Constitution has be reduced to toilet paper for most of our Representatives.
Condi’s a LIB, Rubio and Jindal are BOTH INeligible according to our Constitution.
Why not go for someone like West, who IS fresh, and needs a “bully pulpit” to get his message out? He’s an expert on Muslims (of course he studied Islam to be better informed on his enemy), and although he voted FOR NDAA, I believe he is one of the “up and comers”.
Seems to me that we need someone who is NOT used to the Washington “game”, and can bring a new perspective to the debate.

A former spokesman for George HW Bush commented today that he thinks if Romney wants to show boldness and motivate the base to get out on election day, JIM DeMINT would be the prime choice. Romney needs a bulldog to take on the present Empty Suit, and can you visualizethe debate between DeMint and Biden!!??
