Authorities said the wife of Trayvon Martin’s shooter is being accused of lying to a judge about their finances during her husband’s bond hearing and faces one count of perjury.
An order issued Tuesday by Assistant State Attorney John Guy charged Shellie Zimmerman, 25, with knowingly making false statements during the April hearing. She was arrested on Tuesday but has since bonded out of jail.

Meanwhile, the task force formed by Florida’s Gov. Rick Scott held a public hearing today to discuss Florida’s “Stand Your Ground” law, with opponents and proponents protesting loudly. Unfortunately, these hearings should not be taking place until AFTER George Zimmerman’s trial. The hearings are tainting the jury pool as much as the media did in trying Zimmerman in the press before any facts were presented.

Hey All,
It’s cases like this that really interest me.
I don’t believe anyone knows what REALLY went on except for George.
The question is, why would we think the man is lying when he told his story to the police?
The answer is simple, EVERYONE lies now. It’s ridiculous that when you have a conversation with someone, you can’t trust that they are telling the truth.
“People” do NOT have any INTEGRITY these days. It’s easier to LIE, and expect to get away with it, then it is to tell the truth and accept the consequences.
It is being INDOCTRINATED in to us that it is ok to lie.
Even witnesses, who take an OATH to tell the truth, can NOT be trusted.
But my gut tells me George is telling the truth.

I responded on your thread, but I’ll also post the comment here also (I KNOW JAMES will allow my comment through:
newsjourney,
This will probably be deleted, or put in to moderation and not released, but you need to be corrected.
I will take these one by one:
#1:
“1) Florida Special Prosecutor Angela Corey Is Tough On Repeat Offenders
In 2005, Zimmerman was charged with two third-degree felonies, for which he did not serve jail time”. Even though he did not serve time in prison, these felonies may become a serious disadvantage to Zimmerman in the trial.”
These “felonies” were REDUCED and then the charges WAIVED when George entered a program.
There is NO evidence of violence in George’s past except for incidents from 2005 or before that time.
Maybe the program worked, who knows.
But what we DO know is that Trayvon was suspended from school numerous times (at least 3, of course HIS school records have been “sealed” by his family’s lawyer, imagine that) for commiting viloations of school rules (tardyness) and crimes (writing graffiti on a locker) and that it is rumored that Trayvon “swung on” a bus driver, that he was present at a street fight, and that when he was searched for the locker incident, a screwdriver and WOMEN’s jewelry was found in his possession. His facebook page also had an entry which suggests that Trayvon may have been a drug dealer.
Why is it that you provided evidence of George’s past, but you ommit from your article the FACT that Trayvon was suspended from school, that George, being a neighborhood watch person, was familiar with MOST residence of the gated community (Trayvon was visiting his father, who it is my understanding lived with his girlfriend in the gated community), and Trayvon was “suspicious” because he was NEW to George.
I guess when you are posting a BIASED piece, who cares about stating the WHOLE story?
#2:
“2) Zimmerman’s 2005 MySpace Posts Show Possible Racial Profiling
Recently, several of Zimmerman’s MySpace posts from 2005 were uncovered, and their information could be used against him. In the posts, he railed against “Mexicans” and wrote about “getting knives pulled on you by every Mexican you run into!”
UMMM can you be RACIST against your OWN race?
George IS hispanic.
Another thing I find interesting is that the article you reference when making this statement, is now UNavailable.
I looked for it many different ways.
But again, from 2005? Just THIS YEAR Trayvon was asked “Damn were u at a nigga needa plant.”, on HIS facebook page.
#3:
“3) Martin Was a Minor
It is a tragic occurrence when anyone is shot and killed, but when the victim is not yet an adult, it is heart-wrenching.”
I wouldn’t care WHO it was, IF, the incident took place the way George says it did.
Just to INFORM the folks who may read this article,
George states that Trayvon approached HIM and asked if he had a problem, and when George answered back “no”, Trayvon responded with well you do now, and punched George in the face and the brawl was on.
George had NO idea how old Trayvon was, only that he wasn’t familiar to George, and that it was raining, and he was walking the streets, or on walkways behind the houses.
It kind of gets me that two strangers can’t have a CIVIL discussion. Trayvon should have KNOWN that he would be suspicious to SOME of the residence (as would ANYONE unfamiliar to the neighborhood). This situation, it seems to me COULD and SHOULD have been handled in a civil manner. Trayvon had every right to be walking the streets, but it seems to me that a resident should also be able to determine if someone NEW to the area, actually BELONGS in the area by asking simple questions, and NOT being confrontational.
A civil discussion SHOULD have went something like this:
“Hey why are you following me?”
“Well it’s 7pm, raining and I don’t recognize you, why are you out walking the streets?”
“I’m coming from the store and I’m here staying with my father who lives right around the corner.”
“Oh, there’s been quite a few break ins around here, so we’re kind of suspicious of anyone new walking around.”
“I see, nope, just going to the store and heading back to my dad’s girlfirend’s house, it’s right over there.”
“Ok, have a good evening.”
NOT in today’s society though. Maybe there would have been a different outcome if they were TEXTING back and forth.
#4:
“4) Zimmerman Didn’t Listen To His Previous Lawyers
In early April, Zimmerman’s two previous lawyers, Hal Uhrig and Craig Sonner, withdrew as his counsel because Zimmerman had lost contact with them and was “taking actions related to the case without consulting them.”
There’s no doubt that George made mistakes, especially about his finances, but that has NOTHING to do with whether he is guilty of second degree murder.
What I find interesting is that the lawyers got in front of the cameras and TOLD THE WORLD what they had advised George to do.
A bit of a lawyer/client privlidge issue here don’t you think? I’m thinking George will sue these two lawyers for this, and be compensated well for this.
What kind of ETHICS does a lawyer have who gets in front of the camera and says, we told our client this, and he disregarded our advice so we are quitting?
#5:
“5) Zimmerman Disregarded the Advice of a 911 Operator and Followed Martin
Had George Zimmerman waited for the police to arrive, as the 911 operator ordered, instead of continued to follow Martin, Martin would still be alive.”
First you accurately state that the operator ADVISED George, and then you state he ORDERED George.
Your first statement is correct.
I have listened to the 911 tapes and have heard George’s discussion witht he operator, and IF you were genuine in your writting, you would have included the call in your piece, but the operator says to George:
“you don’t need to do that”.
There was NO order for George to wait for the police, and George even asks the operator to have the police call him when they arrive so that he can inform them where he is.
Here’s the link to the 911 call:
And how do you know Trayvon would still be alive today? Are you a fortune teller? Can you “see” Trayvon alive today had he not confronted George?
You continue with #5:
“Zimmerman precipitated the confrontation between him and Martin.”
No, George saw someone he wasn’t familiar with roaming the streets at 7pm in the evening, while it was raining, and simply wanted to know WHY he was roaming the streets of a GATED community at night in the rain by himself.
Although Trayvon had every right to be on the street, it is REASONABLE to be suspicious of someone in that situation.
You go on with #5:
“Even if Martin had attacked Zimmerman, the fight wouldn’t have even begun had Zimmerman stayed behind to wait for the police.”
Why don’t you suggest that Trayvon could have avoided the confrontation if he had simply went home? There is like a 4 minute gap between when George hung up with 911 and the confrontation. Trayvon easily could have made it back to his residence in 4 minutes, it was about 50 yards from where the confrontation took place.
You conclude #5 with this:
“Zimmerman made an enormous mistake in following Martin after being told by a professional not to- this action could be the difference between his acquittal and his conviction.”
We don’t even know IF George followed Trayvon after the 911 call. What we DO know is that George’s father has said that George went PAST the T in the sidewalk to get an address for when the police called him.
It is possible that Trayvon was “laying in wait” for George, and on his way back to his truck, Trayvon confronted George and the fight was on.
We don’t know, but from everything I can gather on the issue, Trayvon was on top of George, beating his head in to the ground (George did have TWO cuts on the back of his head, and another 911 caller identified the man in “red” as the one on the bottom, George had on a red jacket), and it has been reported that Trayvon had cuts to his knuckle which is consistent with having thrown and connected with a punch.
With all of this, it is NOT my intention to suggest that I “support” George, only that the thread you posted is DISingenuous and BIASED.
This whole thing has become a vilification of George instead of a LEARNING experience about how our society has evolved.
Maybe if ALL OF US had some social skills this thing could have been avoided.
Just as an example, yesterday morning I was on my way home from work, and a man was riding his bike towards me. I had my window down and when he passed me, he said “What the “f” are you looking at?” and I replied with “Good Morning”.
See the difference?
