USA Today exposes the fraud that is activist-organized protest at Republican town halls this recess. Their story opens with Paul Ryan calling on a man in the front row before recognizing him, “You changed clothes!” USA Today reports that the man had been at a separate event six hours earlier. Politico reports that “Citizens Action of Wisconsin and the Milwaukee Labor Council have enlisted a traveling band of seniors to follow Paul Ryan’s every move.” But the leftist activists have been unable to match genuine support for Ryan. The Weekly Standard’s John McCormack posts video of constituents giving Ryan a standing ovation after a town hall near Milwaukee.

Why in the hell would anyone give Paul Ryan a standing ovation?

There may be issues with his plan, but he at least was willing to take the risk to put it out there. Remember, the Dems didn’t even do a budget for 2011, for fear of the political impact on 2010 elections. Ryan’s plan gives a starting point for the “discussion” on how we resolve these pressing issues. By presenting his plan, he has forced the Dems, and the RINO’s, to have the necessary discussions. That is why the plan was put forth so boldly, and for that, he does deserve to be praised.

Ed,
Good video.
What I’d like to comment is this:
SOMETHING has got to be done with ALL of the senior citizen programs (medicare, medicare part B, social security, medicare perscription program, just to call out a few).
Ryan has put a PLAN on the table…………………where’s the Democrat’s plan? They had since 2006 to address these issues, but decided to “kick the can down the road” instead of seeking answers to these difficult issues when they had control of the House, Senate AND White House.
They could have implemented their “solution”. They see what’s happening to these programs, but did NOTHING except increase the size of the Government’s role in OUR health care issues.
I haven’t researched Ryan’s plan, and I very well may not like everything in it, but it is quite certain that at some point and time a DECREASE in services offered by these programs have got to be undertaken to bring this problem under control.
Those 55 and under have been told with plenty of time to take action, that their generation will NOT be getting the same benefits as ther parents. I am one of those that this affects, and it is up to ME to find out what I have to do to provide myself with the insurance I will need.
Although criticism of the plan is needed, at least Ryan has a plan.
At least the Republicans are addressing this serious issue.
That’s more than can be commented about the Democrats.

Ryan proposes we backtrack on America. Fie on him and his plan to make Americans third-world citizens at first-class prices.
Yes, we need to do something about government programs. We need to put teeth into pension protection programs, and we need to get private businesses to make good retirement programs and stop dumping older workers on Social Security. Social Security was intended to be the backstop to end poverty among the aged — most private businesses have treated it as a reason not to create retirement plans.
We don’t need to decrease services, especially when the decreased services cost more than current levels, and especially when we can increase services and reduce costs. We need to be smart about federal programs. For example, we should stop pretending that denying measles vaccine to poor people saves the cost of the vaccine, when it multiplies the costs of medical services required when kids come down with measles.
Making government work and work well is a concept lost on Ryan and most Republicans these days. We all pay higher taxes as a result.

Its been lost on most all of them, on both sides of the aisle.
There is absolutely no need for the government to be the size that it is. There is no need for the Dept. of Education. The EPA, the Commerce Department and the Dept. of Transportation could all be merged under one agency.
Cut every program that is redundant among the various agencies.
Drug test welfare recipients.
Private businesses should have never have been required to foot the bill for retirement plans or health insurance programs. That began as a means for businesses to draw human resources away from others. Then it became required.
If you ask me, Ed, instead of Biden meeting with others from Congress to develop a plan, they instead should bring people like you and I to make them do things in a common-sense approach. If you ever saw the movie “DAVE”, its the outsider that solves the fiscal problem.
