Remember, at Beck’s “Restoring Honor” Rally, he did not allow signs:

More than three centuries ago, the residents of America staged a rebellion against an oppressive ruler who taxed them unjustly, ignored their discontents and treated their longing for freedom with contempt. They are about to revisit that tradition this week, when their anger and exasperation sweep through Congress like avenging angels. This time the hated oppressor isn’t a foreign colonial government, but their own professional political class.

In New York last week I was struck by the startling shift of mood since my last visit, during Barack Obama’s first year in office. This phenomenon took varying forms, of course, depending on the political orientation of my interlocutor, but the underlying theme of despair and disgust was almost universal. Liberal Democrats (who hugely outnumber most other factions in that city) were despondent and disappointed with the collapse of Obama’s popularity. A few of them (remarkably few, actually) were ready to blame this on a “Right-wing conspiracy” of vaguely racist motivation. But most of them were frankly critical of the strategic mistakes they believed the White House had made, and the baffling inability of their President to connect with the people in an engaging way. His shocking lack of emotional expression during last month’s commemoration of 9/11 – a point of particular significance to New Yorkers – was remarked upon by a number of people I met.

In Lamar, MO, word had spread that the Fred Phelps group might show up to protest during the funeral of PFC Reid, killed in Irag. To honor the fallen soldier, and to protect his family, the town showed up….. with American flags everywhere:

January 3rd, 2007 was the day the Democrats took over the Senate and the Congress.

At the time:

The DOW Jones closed at 12,621.77

The GDP for the previous quarter was 3.5%

The Unemployment rate was 4.6%

Republican policies before the day that historic day had SET A RECORD of 52 STRAIGHT MONTHS of JOB CREATION!

Remember the day…

January 3rd, 2007 was the day that Barney Frank took over the House Financial Services Committee and Chris Dodd took over the Senate Banking Committee.

The economic meltdown that happened 15 months later was in what part of the economy?  It was in BANKING AND FINANCIAL SERVICES!

Thank Congress (not the sitting President) for taking us from 13,000 DOW, 3.5 GDP and 4.6% Unemployment to this CRISIS by dumping 5-6 TRILLION Dollars of toxic loans on the economy from YOUR Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac fiasco’s!   Side Note: Bush asked Congress 17 TIMES to stop Fannie & Freddie – starting in 2001, because it was financially risky for the U.S. economy, but the Democrats run by Pelosi, Reid, Frank and Dodd blew it off and would not respond (Remember Dodd’s now infamous comment that the proposed changes to Fannie and Freddie “would limit home ownership to only those who could afford it”.

And who took the THIRD highest pay-off from Fannie Mae AND Freddie Mac?  OBAMA himself.

And who were the combatants against reform of Fannie and Freddie???  OBAMA and the Democrat Congress.

So the next time someone tries to blame “Bush” …

REMIND THEM OF JANUARY 3rd, 2007…. THE DAY THE DEMOCRATS TOOK OVER! “Bush” may have been in the car, but the Democrats were in charge of the gas pedal and steering wheel.  Congress was driving. Set the record straight!

So, as you listen to all the commercials and media from the Democrats who are now distancing themselves from their voting record and their party, remember how they didn’t listen to you when you said you didn’t want all the bailouts, you didn’t want the health care bill, you didn’t want cap and trade, you didn’t want them to continue spending money we don’t have.

I’m not forgetting their complicity in getting us into this mess, and I’ll be marking my vote accordingly!

Like a movie shown out of focus and at a high rate, the election in Massachusetts’s Fourth Congressional District has been exhilarating but difficult to appreciate fully. However, in the last week, the film has slowed and there is a laser-like focus to the race. Massachusetts will do it again. A little-known but young, intelligent, and energetic candidate will transfer a seat thought to be impregnable by the Democrats and the pundits into the Republican camp.

Support for this prediction is both objective and subjective. Recent polling shows that the race has narrowed to a gap that is well within the range that cannot be measured accurately by polling. Moreover, the polls show that Bielat’s momentum has continued to build and that the momentum has occurred among crucial independents and in the usual Democratic strongholds in the southern part of the district. Frank’s support, which has been consistently below 50% (a crucial indicator of an incumbent’s chances), does not appear to be rising. The curve of Bielat’s support is on a vector to exceed Frank’s support before the date of the election.

After decades and decades of socialist domination of the American academy, finally an institution of higher learning – Thomas Jefferson’s University of Virginia – is offering an accredited class on modern conservatism, Politico reports.

The “Conservatism 101″ class is a joint project of the university’s Burke Society and the Leadership Institute, which hopes to use the seminar as a model for similar courses at other schools. Conservatism 101, the nonprofit group, promoting the effort, is seeking donations to help give students across America an opportunity to hear the other side of the story.

Given that conservatives comprise about 40 percent of the population, compared to the 20 percent of Americans who identify themselves as liberal, offering the course makes a lot sense.

“We believe that there’s an enormous amount of material that doesn’t get taught in classes, and most universities and students have a right to it,” said Wes Siler, executive director of Conservatism 101. “So rather than confronting professors and administrators, we’re trying to empower students to take it upon themselves to find conservative professors.”

According to The Daily Caller:

Siler hopes to get at least 20 similar classes started at colleges and universities across the country and has been talking with professors around the country with an interest in teaching the course at their university. He has his sights set on large state-affiliated schools such as the University of Texas and plans to get at least one course on conservatism at a school in each of the 50 states.

Ronald Reagan biographer Craig Shirley intends to lecture in the UVA course.

“There are many different arguments out there,” Shirley said. “My compliments to UVA for deciding to move ahead with this because hopefully it will start a trend on other college campuses and universities … to open things up to something other than just a sort of parochial liberalism.”

In a movement one pro-Sarah Palin website is calling “Operation Alaska Chaos,” at least 100 people filed paperwork Thursday to register as write-in candidates in the U.S. Senate election, according to the Division of Elections.

A stream of would-be senators filtered through the elections office in Midtown Anchorage late in the day, many saying the effort is meant to protest an order by the Alaska Supreme Court on Wednesday allowing a list of write-in candidates to be shown to voters who ask for assistance.

The court action is expected to aid Sen. Lisa Murkowski’s write-in bid and amounts to electioneering by the state, say supporters of Republican nominee Joe Miller. The idea of a mass registration is to create a long list of potential write-in choices and make it harder for voters to find Murkowski’s name.

Tax Your Kid’s Candy This Halloween
X / XXIX / MMX | pansgold

Posted on Friday, October 29, 2010 1:30:03 PM by pansgold

This Halloween when each kid comes home with a sack full of candy, set them down and tell them it’s time to pay their taxes.

Grab as much of their candy as you want and tell them it’s a graduated tax and is proportionate to the amount they have.

Tell them that you will be giving it to the kids that were too lazy to beat the streets for themselves and they stayed home and sat on their asses.
