A front-page headline in the January 1, 2010 edition of the Washington Post read “Homicide totals in 2009 plummet in District, Prince Georges.” The story below detailed how the number of murders in the capital had dropped to the lowest level in 45 years.
Last year was also the first full year since the D.C. handgun ban was overturned by the Supreme Court – meaning it was the first full year D.C. residents could legally keep handguns in their homes – yet the front page story didn’t even mention the case. If the murder rate had gone up even .1%, you can be sure the Post would’ve pointed out that handguns had been legalized.
To help get this story out, we direct your attention to this op-ed piece that sheds light on the Post’s omission.

Also absent from the media is the story about the DC kids that were able to take advantage of the school voucher program and go to decent schools and ended up having a gigantic leap in their skills and grade point average. Now due to a money shortage and the recession that is really a depression will have to go back to the schools that they were failing in before the voucher program.
Kids suffer so that they can spend over a million dollars or more on their trip to Copenhagen. They not only went themselves but they took their spouses, children and staff. All on the taxpayer dime.
Doesn’t it make you want to get sick to your stomach?

The higher the per capita gun ownership, the higher the number of firearm deaths. It’s not even arguable anymore. Maybe that’s why the story did not get more attention.
You do have a legal right to own a gun. You do not have a moral right.
The founding fathers made a mistake with the second amendment, but it obviously seemed like a good idea at the time.

If our government descends into the fullest depths of tyranny (and they are getting there), they will want to make sure that the general public’s access to guns is limited. I do not like guns, but have a respect for them. And I believe that I have not just the legal right to own a gun, but also a moral one as well. With that comes the responsibility of control and access of that gun.
