As the days of the Massachusetts Senate race special election wanes toward its climax on Tuesday night, January 19th, the Republican candidate, Scott Brown, picked up a key endorsement from the State Police Association of Massachusetts. The troopers are endorsing Brown over the state’s Attorney General Martha Coakley. From the Boston Herald:

BOSTON — Martha Coakley may be the state’s attorney general, but her Senate rival is vying to match her law-and-order credentials.

Republican Scott Brown was scheduled Monday to receive the endorsement of the State Police Association of Massachusetts.

It represents rank-and-file troopers.

 

Association President Richard Brown says “the terrorist threat in this country is real and Scott Brown will always come down on the side of protecting our nation.”

      The Boston Herald is one of the Bay State’s two large publications. Today, the Herald endorsed Scott Brown:

Well, the voters of this state have the power to change that next week. Sometimes one vote can make a difference – especially if it’s one vote on the floor of the U.S. Senate.

If you love what’s going on in Washington, well, then by all means vote for Martha Coakley. She’s a perfectly nice person, and she won’t make a dime’s worth of difference in the balance of power in Washington.

But if you’re not happy with the status quo, if you think the way business is being conducted on Capitol Hill today is a disgrace and an affront to taxpayers, then you probably agree it’s time for a change.

Scott Brown can single-handedly deliver on that kind of change and the Herald is pleased to endorse his candidacy in the race for U.S. Senate.

Brown talks about being the “41st senator,” adding to Republican ranks and depriving Democrats of the “supermajority” which has allowed them to ride roughshod over the nation’s agenda. But he would go to Washington as his own man – and as ours, beholden to no one, except Massachusetts voters.

      Like one of the Bay State’s “leading ladies”, Bette Davis, said “Fasten your seatbelt, it’s going to be a bumpy ride”

Mitt Romney, the former Governor of Massachusetts, and Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, ahve both endorsed Scott Brown, and Freedom First PAC sent out the money request:

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty urged their supporters on Monday to send funds to Scott Brown, the Republican candidate in the closer-than-expected special Senate race in Massachusetts.

The two likely 2012 Republican presidential campaign rivals e-mailed fundraising pleas for Brown, who trails Democratic state Attorney General Martha Coakley in various polls, from a few points to double digits.

“Something is brewing in Massachusetts and all over the country, and I have a prediction to make — for our cause, and for all those who speak for it with no apology — this will be our year,” Romney wrote. “I know Scott and how determined he is to win. I’ve campaigned for him, raised money on his behalf, and we’re doing all we can to help him over the finish line.”
