To the Honorable John Boehner,
With the House of Representatives’ passage of HR3962, on behalf of Constitutional Conservatives, I would like to congratulate you on your early selecyion as the next Speaker of the House.
Speaker Pelosi and the Democratic in Congress have opted to disregard the “We The People” voice that has been addressed to Congress since the TARP bailouts and the economic stimulus package in the Spring. By ignoring the voice of the People, the Speaker and the Democrats have assured that Speaker Pelosi will not be in the majority as of November 2010.
It is incumbent on you, and Rep. Cantor, and other Republican leaders to begin the task of making sure that the legislation that will be hammered out in conference after the Senate comes to agreement on a bill is NOT passable, that we end this healthcare debacle. Reform is imperative, but we must push “Restart”, and do this in a positive and fiscal manner.

I admit that I have not paid that much attention to the process until now. And I am totally disgusted.
I do believe the Republican’s are sincere, and I think they put up a good fight. The Democrats just have more numbers. And to them, it does not matter what is good or “right”, for American’s.
The Republican’s had a double edge sword with the abortion amendment. They HAD to pass it just in case the liberals won. But at the same time, after it passed, it opened the door to more Blue Dogs to pass the pelnazi bill.
It ain’t over til the fat lady sings.

If they think Michelle Bachmann garnered a crowd on Thursday, if the Senate is able to pass a plan and send it to cnference with the House, the Mall on DC will make the Inauguration and Tea Party 9/12 gatherings miniscule. Our legislators and staff will be forced to EARN every dime by non-stop fac-to-face meetings with the Constituents— and Nancy & Harry – their offices will be open round the clock because every American will want them to look them in th eye and try to say this is simply healthcare reform.
I may have to take a leave of absence!!!

Making my point, here’s Boehner’s statement:
Statement by House GOP Leaders Boehner, Cantor, & Pence on Stupak-Pitts Amendment
Washington, Nov 7 -
WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH), House Republican Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) and House Republican Conference Chairman Mike Pence (R-IN) issued the following statement in support of an amendment offered by Representatives Bart Stupak (D-MI) and Joseph Pitts (R-PA) that would prohibit federal funding of abortions under the House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) health care plan:
“We believe in the sanctity of life, and the Stupak-Pitts Amendment addresses a moral issue of the utmost concern. It will limit abortion in the United States. Because of this, while we strongly and deeply oppose the underlying bill, we decided to stand with Life and support Stupak-Pitts.
“The danger of this bill passing without critical pro-life language was too great a risk to do otherwise. Indeed, a number of Democrat supporters of Stupak-Pitts had privately indicated to many of our colleagues that all they needed for “cover” was a vote, and they would support final passage even if the amendment failed.
“To be clear, the Stupak-Pitts Amendment’s passage is the right thing to do. We believe you just don’t play politics with life.
“When this bill is conferenced with the Senate, the pro-life majority in the House of Representatives must ensure that this important amendment is in the final legislation. If it does not, this same strong majority must defeat the bill.”

It was a double edged sword. They should have let it go at the YeaNay point, because the bill failed at that point, very decisively. It was only when the electronic vote was done that it was passed— when Republicans were threatened by the National Right to Life that a “NV” or Present would be scored against them in future endorsements.
