Army Specialist Zachary Boyd never thought he’d become famous for his “pink boxer”!!

The New York Times published a front page picture of Boyd and his fellow soldiers in abattle, and the 19 year old specialist didn’t have time to put on his pants and boots, thus he was in flip flops and pink boxers (I love NY).
Happy to be home this Fourth of July, Zachary is shyly enjoying his little bit of celebrity, and he has donated his boxers to the Military Museum at Fort Riley, Kansas. As Secretary of Defense Gates had commented, that picture shows the true determination and commitment of our troops.

This is a brave young man who is ready to protect us on a moments notice.
At first, I thought the publication of this photo was insensitive and demeaning to this soldier and the situation. But, that opinion was squashed when the target of this publicity did not share my thoughts.
