The centerpiece of the foreign policy doctrine og President George W. Bush lies in the theory that if you plant the seed of a democratic free society in the middle of the MidEast, there will be far-reaching and long term changes. The uprising revolution growing in the streets of Tehran, Iran shows that for all the belittling and bashing that George Bush took, he was right. In complete opposite to this is the Obama doctrine- “let’s bear witness” to what is happening in Tehran!
There were elections in Kuwait, and females were actually elected. The elections in Lebanon have brought slow changes. Iraq is trying to forge ahead with a democratic government. The seeds that were planted under the Bush Doctrine are clearly taking root, and the turmoil in Iran shows that their population is ready for reform, is ready to challenge the theocracy that has ruled for three decades.

Those seeds George Bush planted have cost over 4,000 American lives, over 100,000 Iraqi civilian lives, and almost $700 billion.

And how many lives were lost during the Clinton years? How many civilian lives were saved by the heroism of those 4000 soldiers? How many civilians were saved from brutal annhilation that Saddam Hussein and his goonsquad subjected the Iranians to before he was removed from power? Are we say that the $700 billion was a waste? In comparison to the waste that Obama has perpetuated in 5 months?

There were 79 soldiers killed in Clinton’s ridiculous quest to save the world from evil. He should’ve never sent troops to Somalia, Bosnia, Haiti, or Kosovo. Those soldiers may have died for a good cause, but that cause had nothing to do with national security. Same with Iraq.

Could one say the same thing about the 58000 who died in Vietnam, or those in Korea? I have family who served at Normandy, were shot over Korea, battled in Vietnam, and served in Iraq…. they all view their service the same.

stothes,
It took Bush over 5 years to spend that 700 Billion on Iraq, and the effort is paying off.
Obama spent 787 Billion in one bill (and another 410 Billion on the Omnibus spending bill, not to mention all of the money being thrown at Banks and the Auto Industry, and for what? so they can file bankruptcy?), and it was supposed to be the “remedy” for the economic crisis, and I have seen NOTHING good come from it yet.
How long are we supposed to wait? 787 Billion seems like a whole bunch of money, and I have yet to see the first sign of a “break” in the economy.
