I think it was completely inappropriate for Ahmadenejad to be giving this speech. All the UN has is its reputation, and this reputation has been severely damaged with this spectacle. Maybe it is a lot of fun to see israel be whipped by A., but too many people depend for their survival on the UN, too many are affected by racism (not in the least those in Iran) to let this clown do his one and only trick and jeoapardize the whole conference. A. is guilty of the same self-centerness as Israel and the US. By not participating, or by giving such an inflammatory speech (we are lucky they made him take out the holocaust denial) they completely disregard the needs of the people this conference was made for.
I completely disagree with Israel's actions in the occupied territories in gaza and Israel itself. And I belief that A. actually did an enormous disservice to the palestinian cause. Israeli hard liners couldn't have wished for a better display and a better reason to aggravate the conflict. I am starting to think A. is zionist's biggest supporter.
Ban ki moon should be made to resign over letting this happen. It was not good for anything, except for those that want more conflict, war and bloodshed.

Hey All,

To a question Sunday about Ortega's anti United States rant on Saturday, and about Ortega not blaming Obama for the Bay of Pigs Obama responded:

“To move forward, we cannot let ourselves be prisoners of past disagreements. I’m grateful that President Ortega did not blame me for things that happened when I was three months old. Too often, an opportunity to build a fresh partnership of the Americas has been undermined by stale debates. We’ve all heard these arguments before.”

First of all, Obama wasn't even born in April of 1961, I was three moths old however being born in January of 1961 (and I remember it like it was yesterday), but the President wasn't born until August of 1961, almost 4 month AFTER the Bay of Pigs.

But the most important part of his answer is the first line, "To move forward, we cannot let ourselves be prisoners of past disagreements", and the rest of it, where he states "Too often, an opportunity to build a fresh partnership of the Americas has been undermined by stale debates. We’ve all heard these arguments before."

Kind of like the "racism" argument Mr President? You know the "stale debates" that are thrown in White people's faces every time an injustice is accused to have been done to a black man?

Heck I wasn't alive in the 1860's, and I haven't owned any slaves, and I'm know my parents didn't, and I'm pretty sure my grandparents didn't either, so why do we get "blamed" for something that happened over 150 years ago? Why is this generation being held "prisoners of past disagreements"? Why can't we get past the "stale debates"?

I guess it's different when it comes to Latin America though, isn't it Mr President?

Hey All,

I question why Obama didn't walk out on Ortega's rant Saturday at the "vacation" retreat that all of the America's took last week?

Seems to me that if it's good enough for the 30 countries that walked out in Geneva, it would have been good enough for Trinadad.

Maybe our diplomat didn't get the memo about staying and listening to these "reasonable" leaders.

The insensitivity of it all.
