President Elect Barack Obama continued highlighting what many are calling the Clinton Third Term by appointing Leon Panetta to be the Director of the CIA.

The 70 year old Panetta served as the White House Chief of Staff for President William Jefferson Clinton from 1994 to 1997, and he had been the head of Clinton’s Office of Management and Budget from 1993 to 1994. Prior to his Presidential appointment, Mr. Panetta had served a California Congressman from 1976 to 1990. Originally a Republican, Panetta switched to the Democrats when he felt that the Republicans were drifting too far from the “center”, and were not supportive of civil rights issues.
