Let the protesters yell and scream as school age children mark this special day of Thanksgiving. After all, our proud soldiers have defended our freedom of speech for more than 200 years.

Today is a wonderful day, despite the tragedies unfolding around the world. Today, we take an extra special moment to give thanks for all the bounties of our lives, big and small, and appreciate the things most special to us.

For me, I have been truly blessed with a wonderful wife, and together our lives have been truly blessed even more with wonderful children. Family is the foundation of the strength of our great Country, and I am ever thankful for the Family that surrounds us.

I am thankful that we live in a country where we are free to challenge the decisions of our leaders, to question their judgment, to question their qualifications. I am thankful that we have a judicial system, though sometimes flawed, that is supposed to interpret our laws free from political interference.

We should all be thankful for our Democracy and for the idealism of a free capitalistic society. We should all accept the challenges to ensure that our Democracy survives and that we refrain from a socialistic political agenda. We should be thankful that we are able to share our values, to discuss our differences, and to enjoy the basic freedoms of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

For those who loudly disagree with the voice of the populous, be thankful you can disagree. Be thankful that you live in a country where despite your angst at certain laws, you are free to live your life without fear for your lives.

We should be thankful to our President, who has kept a us free of another terrorist attack on our own soil since 9/11/01, and our President, who despite the criticism of the left, has shown the fortitude and wisdom in the strategy of the Iraq War, to the point that today, the Iraqi Parliament has approved the US-Iraq Pact that will define our withdrawal from Iraq by the end of 2011 in a clear manner. We should be thankful for Gen. Petraeus’ guidance in seeing the “surge” through to this ultimate goal.

Despite economic woes, we should be thankful for what we do have, for the blessings before us, and for a better tomorrow!!

From our home to yours, a very special Happy Thanksgiving, and a special prayer for all!!
